BIAG NI LAM-ANG

 Introduction

Biag ni Lam-ang is an epic poem from the Philippines that tells the story of Lam-ang, a legendary hero
who was born with extraordinary abilities.

 1A. Situations

The poem recounts Lam-ang's birth, his childhood, and his quest to avenge his father's death. Along the
way, Lam-ang battles various monsters and enemies, using his strength, intelligence, and magical
powers to overcome them. He also falls in love with a woman named Ines Kannoyan, whom he wins over
with his bravery and charm.

 1B. Characters

Lam-ang - the main protagonist, a warrior with extraordinary abilities and a quest to avenge his father's
death.

Don Juan - Lam-ang's father, a wealthy and powerful chieftain who was killed by his enemies.
Namongan - Lam-ang's mother, who gave birth to him.
Ines Kannoyan - Lam-ang's love interest.
Sumarang - Lam-ang's loyal dog, who accompanies him on his journey and helps him in battle.
Saridandan - Lam-ang's rival.
The Igorot - People's who capture Lam-ang and try to kill him.
The giant Berkakan - a monster who Lam-ang defeats in battle.
The sea serpent - a creature who Lam-
ang battles and kills to save his friends.

 1C. Setting

The setting of the story of Biag ni Lam-ang is in the Northern part of the Philippines, particularly in the
Ilocos Region. The story takes place during Lam-ang's journey to avenge his father's death, which leads
him to encounter various creatures and enemies along the way.

 2 Rising Action

Lam-ang is not greatly a privilege man. His father is a wealthy and influential chieftain in their tribes.
When Lam-ang found out that his father was killed. He started his journey to find his father's killers.
Enabling him to encounter many challenges along his story, including the loss of his father and various
battles with monsters and enemies. Despite of him being well known to his abilities, Lam-ang's journey is
not an easy one to consider. He have to face his enemy and he needed to rely on his strength,
intelligence, and loyal companions to overcome obstacles and defeat enemies that becomes a barrier for
him to find his father's killer.

 2A. Rising Action

Lam-ang faces several challenges during his journey to avenge his father's death. He must cross a
dangerous river filled with the remains of the deceased. He encounters a giant named Berkakan, who
tries to kill him with a boulder, but Lam-ang defeats him by throwing him into a ravine.

 2B

Additionally, Lam-ang battles a sea serpent that is causing destruction in a village, and he kills the
serpent by piercing its heart with his spear. Finally, he is captured by the Igorot people, who intend to kill
him, but he manages to escape by using his intelligence.
 2C.

To overcome the dangerous river filled with the remains of the deceased, Lam-ang calls on the spirits of
his ancestors to guide him. This part shows that he has a strong connection to his heritage and believes
in the power of his ancestors to help him overcome obstacles. With their guidance, Lam-ang is able to
safely navigate the treacherous river and continue on his journey to avenge his father's death.

 3. Climax

After facing numerous obstacles and challenges, Lam-ang reaches the village of Sumarang, his father's
killer, and engages him in a fight. This marks the final confrontation between the two, and Lam-ang
emerges victorious after defeating Sumarang, who is portrayed as an evil giant. The battle concludes
Lam-ang's journey to avenge his father's death and showcases his bravery and determination.

Lam-ang and Sumarang engage in a fierce battle, but in the end, Lam-ang emerges as the winner by
tearing Sumarang in half. This demonstrates Lam-ang's strength and fighting skills, as well as his
commitment to avenging his father's death. The violent nature of the victory adds to the intensity of the
story and emphasizes the high stakes of Lam-ang's quest.

Lam-ang's victory over Sumarang marks the conclusion of his quest to seek revenge for his father's
death. This achievement establishes Lam-ang as a powerful hero and warrior, highlighting his
exceptional fighting skills and determination.

The success of Lam-ang's mission brings a sense of closure to the story. This Philippine folklore, shows

 4. Denouement

Following the journey of Lam-ang. He managed to avenge his father's death. By cutting the body of the
killers. Making him won the fight between him and the The giant Berkakan - a monster who Lam-ang
defeats in battle.

Upon learning about his father's death, Lam-ang was driven by a strong desire for revenge. He
immediately aged and set out to the mountains to seek vengeance against the Igorots, who were
responsible for his father's demise. Lam-ang's determination to avenge his father's death and bring
justice to the perpetrators is truly remarkable. His love for his father and his commitment to justice
motivated him to take swift action, demonstrating his strength and heroism.

While battling the sea serpent creature, Lam-ang's friends were also at risk, and he recognized the need
to act quickly to save them. Through his unwavering determination and physical strength, Lam-ang was
able to defeat the sea serpent and rescue his friends from harm.
