1. Powder Coated Edge Bead Detail Recommended for 10mm Periphery Gap between Wall and
Bulkhead
2. Mock Up Work to Proceed in compliance with Design & Balmond Studio comments &
instructions given for RICF-633 (based on Visual inspections of the sample) this is not the final
approval for work item since submissions and rectifications are pending from the contractor.
3. The contractor is expected to Demonstrate a High level of surface finishing and seamless joint
finishing and continuity especially with regard to concealed joints between Ceiling to Ceiling ,
Ceiling to Wall etc. development of separation cracks will not be accepted.

1 Purpose

• The main purpose of this method statement is to outline the procedure of

suspended ceiling installation work associated with the project.

7 Methodology – Suspended Ceiling Installation

➢ Work to do Prior to the Suspended Ceiling Installation

Before start of suspended ceiling works the following works need to be completed
and assessed by the relevant officials from all concerned parties.

• Plaster works to walls up to the required height Upto RCC slab soffit

• Skim coat and wall filler application to walls up to the required height
Upto RCC slab soffit
• All M.E.P. works of first fix services should be completed and clearance should
be granted by relevant parties (Inspection shall be carried out at different work
levels and clearance shall be obtained at progressive levels as mentioned
therein)

• Protection of flooring

➢ Fixing of Suspension Grids Inspection request Was

due on 11.07.2023-

• Ceiling bottom level should be marked and checked
• Wall angles should be fixed at the correct level
• Adjustable hanger rods to be fixed to the soffit at relevant intervals with
anchors
• Main carriers to be hang with hanger rods at 1200mm intervals
• Cross furring channels to be fixed at 400mm intervals to the main carriers
with Megaclip connectors
• Levelling of the ceiling to be done and checked
• Al powder coated “U” channels to be fixed at wall edges where applicable
• Suspension system of the ceiling should not be in direct contact with M.E.P.
services

➢ Fixing of Gypsum Boards or Calcium Silicate Boards

Before starting of the board fixing of false ceiling, M.E.P. clearance will be
obtained by the relevant parties. M.E.P. services to be completed, inspected and
approved by consultants before grant the M.E.P. Clearance.

Inspection of suspension frame work of false ceiling should be carried out by the
consultant and should be rectified to comments if given by them.

• Relevant ceiling boards to be fixed (Gypsum boards or Calcium Silicate

boards) to furring channels with screws at 100mm C/C and wall angles at
perimeter of walls.
• Extra supports should be provided around access panels and other openings.

➢ Finishing of Gypsum Boards or Calcium Silicate Boards

Before start of the finish works including filler and paint, services ceiling marking
will be made by M.E.P. sub-contractors as per the approved M.E.P. coordination
drawings for all type of fittings and fixtures and positions of the access panels as
well.

Inspection by the consultant and contractor to be done and final approval to be

obtained for cutting boards before painting start.
All Wall & Ceiling Board Joints to be reinforced with Joint Tape and to received Paint system
• All the joints and wall edge joints to be covered with joint tapes.
• Apply joint filler over the joint tapes and screw positions to fill the gaps
• Materials should be mixed as per specifications and first coat of skim coat
needs to be applied
• After the specified curing time second coat of skim coat needs to be applied
• When the surface is dry, sanding to be done to get the even surface
• Approved filler coat to be applied on the cleaned surface
• After the specified curing time two coats of emulsion paint to be applied on
ceiling boards
