9.1 TOLERANCE
Dimension ► Tolerance…
Geometric tolerances define the maximum allowable variations of form or profile, orientation,
location, and runout from the exact geometry in a drawing.

Command: _tolerance

AutoCAD displays the geometric tolerance dialog box. This specified the symbols and values for a
frame. After you select geometric characteristics symbols, the geometric tolerance dialog box closes
and AutoCAD displays the following prompt.

Enter tolerance location: Pick the required location

9.2 LEADER
A leader line is an object that can be composed of an arrowhead attached to splines or straight line
segments.

Command: leader
Specify leader start point: Use one of the point fixing methods
Specify next point: Use one of the point fixing methods
Specify next point or [Annotation/Format/Undo] <Annotation>: Use one of the
point fixing methods or enter an option

9.3 Associative Dimensioning

Dimension associativity defines the relationship between geometric objects and the dimensions that
give their distance and angles. AutoCAD provides three types of associativity between geometric
objects and dimensions.

Associative dimensions

Automatically adjust their locations, orientations, and measurement values when the geometric
objects associated with them are modified. The DIMASSOC system variable is set to 2.

Nonsssociative dimensions
Selected and modified with the geometry they measure. Nonassociative dimensions do not change
when the geometric objects they measure are modified. The dimensions variable DIMASSOC is set
to 1.

9.4 MULTILINE
Draw ► Multiline
We can draw two or more line elements using MULTILINE command. These are more useful for
civil engineering and architectural drawings.

Command: _mline
Current settings: Justification = Top, Scale = 1.00, Style = STANDARD
Specify start point or [Justification/Scale/STyle]: Use one of the point fixing methods
Specify next point: Use one of the point fixing methods 
9.5 NAMEDVIEWS
View ► Named Views…
Named views are saved with the drawing and can be used anytime. When you are composing a
layout, you can restore a named view to a viewport on the layout. When you invoke the command
View dialog box will appear there you can create new views or set any earlier saved views.
Command: _view

9.6 CALCULATER
Tools ► QuickCalc
With the QuickCalc calculator, an interface that looks and functions like a hand-held calculator, you
can perform mathematical, scientific, and geometric calculations, convert units of measurement,
manipulate the properties of objects, and evaluate expressions.

Command: '_quickcalc
9.7 DIVIDE
Draw ► Point ► Divide
Using this command you can place evenly spaced points or blocks along the length or perimeter of
an object.

Command: _divide
Select object to divide: Use one of the object selecting methods
Enter the number of segments or [Block]: Enter a value

Divide to 5 segments

Divide to 10 segments

9.8 MEASURE
Draw ► Point ► Measure
The MEASURE command places points or blocks at specified intervals on an object.

Command: MEASURE
Select object to measure: Use one of the object selecting methods
Specify length of segment or [Block]: Enter a value

Interval = 5

9.9 BPOLY (BOUNDARY…)

Draw ► Boundary…
Boundaries are two-dimensional enclosed areas you create from objects that form closed loops. Loops can
be combinations of lines, polylines, circles, arcs, ellipses, elliptical arcs, and splines. The objects that make
up the loops must either be closed or form closed areas by sharing endpoints with other objects.

Command: _boundary or Command: bpoly

After you invoke the bpoly command boundary

creation dialog box will appear. Then you can
select object type and pick the points to create
the boundary.
9.10 REGION
Draw ► Region
This command almost similar to the boundary command only difference is using this command we
can select individual objects to convert them into a newly created region.

Command: _region
Select objects: 1 found
Select objects: 1 found, 2 total
Select objects: 1 found, 3 total
Select objects: 1 found, 4 total
Select objects: 1 found, 5 total

9.10 POINT
Draw ► Point ► Single Point/ Multiple Point
Points can act as nodes to which you can snap objects. You can specify a full three-dimensional
location for a point. The current elevation is assumed if you omit the Z coordinate value.

Command: _point
Current point modes: PDMODE=34 PDSIZE=0.0000
Specify a point: Use one of the point fixing methods

9.11 CHANGEPROPERTIES
To Changes the color, layer, linetype, linetype scale factor, lineweight, thickness, and plot style of
an object we can simply use CHPROP command.

Command: chprop
Select objects: Use one of the object selection methods
Select objects: 
Enter property to change [Color/LAyer/LType/ltScale/LWeight/Thickness]: choose a
option to change the property
9.12 CLEANSCREEN
View ► Clean Screen
When you invoke the command it clears the screen of toolbars and dockable windows (excluding
the command line). Then the screen displays only the menu bar, the Model and layout tabs at the
bottom of the drawing, the status bar, and the command line. Use CLEANSCREENOFF to restore
display of interface items except menu bar, status bar, and the command line. Press CTRL+0 (zero)
to switch between CLEANSCREENON and CLEANSCREENOFF.

Command: _CleanScreenON

9.12 DRAWORDER
Tools ► Draw Order ► [Option]
Changes the draw order of images and other objects

Command: draworder
Select objects: Use one of the object selection methods
Select objects: 
Enter object ordering option [Above objects/Under objects/Front/Back] <Back>:
Exercise 06: Draw the following figure and apply the dimensions. (Use imperial
template)
Exercise 07: Draw the floor plan of a building.( Using architectural dimensions)
