Embracing the KEYS to success: Faith, Knowledge, and Unity

The exciting month of October has arrived, and with it, cooler weather, good hunting, great football gamesand nd for our SPS family: our 42 annual Bazaar!! We celebrate more than 50 years of Catholic Education in Gueydan made possible by generous community support and great family fun. After our record-breaking Bazaar already one year ago- the most successful Bazaar in the schools history!- we are excited once again for what this year will bring. Were looking forward to the revival of great traditions from previous years mixed with games, food, and activities of today.

Autographed Drew Brees Superbowl MVP Jersey, 2 tickets to Reba McIntyre Concert/Hotel Accommodations, LSU Wrought Iron Hanging, 2 tickets to LSU-Arkansas game w/ Tailgating package, Barbecue Pit, 75lb Roasting Pig, 3 smock dresses, 1 bonnet, Hand carved Olive Wood Crucifix from the Holy Land, Crocheted Afghan Crocheted Round Tablecloth w/ doilies, 5ft Cypress Swing/Chain Child-size Picnic Table, Electric Guitar, Acoustic Violin, and many more! Sunday, October 30 B-B-Q plate lunches-tickets can be purchased from any SPS family. Dinners can be picked up at the KC Hall from 11am to 12:30pm. 9:00am - 5:30pm 9:00am 5:00pm 6:00pm 6:30pm

As I said last year at this time, it is my firm belief that the Bazaar is much more than raising necessary funds for our school. Its a great SPS family gathering that strengthens our bonds through service, community, and fun. It displays the best of our Cajun culture: celebrating our Catholic Faith, feasting on delicious food, and enjoying great company in a great family atmosphereLaissez les bons temps rouler, cher!

The SPS Bazaar highlights our central focus: the gift of a Catholic education for the children of Gueydan. At the same time, it puts on full display what makes that mission possible: the goodness of the people of Gueydan faithful support of so many pulling together to make that gift possible! Thank you!!

In observance of Fire Safety Week, the Pre-K through 4th grade students of SPS were treated with an exciting show and tell by Gueydan Fire Chief Evans Bourque and volunteer, Chad Lemaire. Students learned about fire safety procedures and the important work of firemen. Thanks to our Gueydan Firefighters!

Congratulations to 2nd Grader Cora Lamson who won the T-Shirt Contest for the 42nd Annual SPS Bazaar! It features our theme- St. Peter School Families: Pulling Together for Faith and Education! The T-Shirts can be purchased at the Bazaar.

Promethean Active Classroom comes to SPS!

St. Peter School has its first Promethean Board!! Through the generosity of the Vermilion Parish School board, SPS was able to install a Promethean Smart Board in the 4th Grade Classroom. During its first use- directly after its installation- Mrs. Hedge heard many oohs and ahhs from the 4th grade students as she demonstrated its potential. Were excited about what this will bring to the students learning. As the Promethean site says: Promethean interactive whiteboards engage students with vivid images, video and audio. The ActivBoard enables anything that can be seen or done on a computer screen to be projected onto an interactive whiteboard bringing every classroom to life. They use ground-breaking technology to promote learning. Interactive whiteboards are a key component to Prometheans all-in-one 21st century classroom solution: The ActivClassroom.
