A1: the Blue background and the Orange
background

The boundaries between orange and blue are difficult to

locate due to the dullness of both. Despite of the orange
presence in the foreground ,it becomes dull. The orange
foreground appears bigger but the blue background
dominates over the foreground despite the focal point is
the orange background. So, it makes the viewer feel the
dullness . The orange seems so dark like the background
as if the orange borrowed darkness from the blue. As a
result , it does not resemble a sunshine in the sky. The
B1: Orange background and the blue
foreground

Between orange and blue , the boundaries become

tighter and more obvious like a window into the blue sky.
The warmth of orange occupied the frame as the blue is
foregrounded. Despite the switch happened , the blue is
still dominant and the orange is still recessive. Dullness is
transmitted to the viewer despite of the lively orange
color in the background. Despite the increase of vibrance
in orange , the blue is still dominant and makes it dull.
As a result, it doesnot resemble a shiny flame. The focal
point is the blue square.
C1: Red Background and green foreground

The cadmium red colour is perceived as vibrant. and

it is clear where boundaries are located. The
boundaries. The green boundaries hold a blue stokes
due to the strong contrast between light and
dark, warm and cold. Cadmium red is vibrant ,lively
and lighter than the dark green. Despite the red is in
the background , the dark green dominates over the
whole picture.Like a tree during red sunset , our eye
is held for the tree. The focal point is the green
square.

D1 Green background and red foreground

The boundaries are clear due to the strong contrast
between light and dark, warm and cold. The red
borders hold blue strokes. The red is dominant while
the green acts a supplement. We are naturally driven
to look at the red apple on the tree more than we
look at the tree. The focal point is the red square.
E1: Yellow background and Violet
Foreground

The focal and dominant dark element is the violet

square, as the yellow background acts as a focal point
competitor. The boundaries are clear because the
values of both colors are the polarity betweeen dark
and light, cold and warm.Another reason of clear
boundaries is that they are framed with blue strokes.
The yellow becomes duller as if approaching to the
orange color.
F1 Violet Background and Yellow
Foreground:

The boundaries between yellow and violet are clear

and are attributed with the blue color by the
viewer’s eye. The yellow is shiny and close to the
orange as also it is the dominant focal point;
however, the violet background is the weaker
element but a strong supplement for the yellow
foreground .
A2 Yellow background and Blue Foreground:

The yellow background ,which gives the impression of

green hue, competes with the blue foreground trying to
manifest itself as a focal point but the blue foreground
dominates over the background with its darkness and
calmness impact. The boundaries between lively
energetic and calm airy are identifiable.
B2 Blue Background and Yellow Foreground:

Yellow foreground, close to the green due to the

dominant blue background , is the focal point but not
foregrounded enough and it becomes the weaker
element. It is not an analogy to the shiny sun in the
blue sky. Between the cold blue and warm yellow,
between the dark blue and light yellow, the
boundaries are difficult to locate for the dullness of
both blue and yellow.
C2 Red Background and Blue Foreground:

The focal point is the red background and the

blue foreground is dominated by the red and
was situated as blue violet resemblance. The
borders are easy to locate for the red is
saturated and darker more than the blue.
D2 Blue background and Red Foreground:

The cold blue background is still dominated by

the warm red foreground and resembles blue
violet .The red is dominated by the blue and the
red becomes duller. The boundaries between
saturated red focal point and pale blue
background are easy to locate.
E2 Red background and Yellow Foreground:

The red dominance over the yellow gives the

impression of yellow as an orangelike color .The
focal point is the red background due to its
vibrance . It is easy to locate the boundaries for
the yellow is lighter than the red and the red is
more saturated.
F2 Yellow background and Red Background:

The red dominance over the yellow over the

orangelike yellow. The red is the saturated focal
point whereas the yellow acts as a competitor
but weaker element. Both are warm but the
darker is the red and the lighter is the yellow. It
is easy to locate such boundaries.
A3 White background and Yellow foreground

The focal point is yellow. There is no weak and

dominant It is hard to locate such boundaries
because both are light values . The yellow
foreground is warmer than the background
white which is colder . A glowing candle is a
good analogy.
B3 Black Background and Yellow Foreground

The dominant and the focal point yellow is

supplemented by the black background.
Both are dominant .The yellow is warm and
the black is cold like a candle in the dark
room.
C3 White Background and Blue Foreground:

The focal point is the blue foreground

which is more saturated than the white.
Both are cold and light values, but the
white lighter than the dark foreground:
blue. The boundaries are hard to identify.
D3 Black Background and Blue Foreground:

The focal point is the blue foreground which is

supplemented by the dominant black background.
The boundaries are clear between the dark black
and the light blue , between the saturated black
and the less saturated blue. The blue becomes
darker due to the dominant black.
E3 White background and Red Foreground:

The red foreground becomes the focal point and

the dominant element because the red is warmer
than the white and more saturated than the white
which is lighter and less saturated. Thus, the
boundaries are easy to identify . It is similar to
advertisement selling labels; For sale is written in
red on the white posters.
F3: Black Background and Red Foreground

The focal point and the light warm part is the red
foreground. The black background dominates over
the red and due to its darkness , the red becomes
a little darker. Forexample , the traffic red light of
the black pillar that alert the pedestrians to stop
is well remembered when discussing red and black
relation.
The boundaries are clear due to the strong
contrast and the blue strokes that seperates them.
A4 White Background and Grey Foreground:

The grey foreground, which is the dark,

captures the attention more than the white
background does . Both are dominant and can
be cold or warm . The pure white is airy and
cold whereas the grey is neutral . The
boundaries are unclear for they are both light
values. To give an example , the cloudy sky
colors give the feel of cold.
B4 Black Background and Grey Foreground

The black background dominates over the

grey foreground which becomes darker.
The black is cold and the grey neutrality
decreased a little due to the dominance of
the black. The boundaries are clear due to
the opposition of the cold and neutral. This
palette is found in a stormy sky and gothic
wuthering .
C4 White Background and Black Background

The focal point is the dominant black

foreground unlike the cold white background
which acts as a supplement and weaker
element. The boundaries between them are
clear due to the strong contrast. It may be
white hallway into a dark room or a window
into the night sky.
D4 Black Background and White foreground

The white focal point is dominant more than

the black background like a shiny star or a
moon in the night sky. The viewers can identify
the boundaries for the opposition between light
white and dark black. Both are cold.
E4 White Background and Beige Foreground:

The focal point is the beige which is

neutral and the white is lighter than the
beige. The beige holds brown darkness
which makes it more dominant and darker
than the white. The boundaries are
unclear because both are light values.
F4 Black Background and Beige Foreground

Unlike the red and the blue , the beige

becomes brighter against the black
background. The focal point is the black . The
borders are caught easily by the eye for the
contast between light :beige and the dark :
black, between the cold and the warm is
obvious. The dominant is the back which is
stronger than the weak element :beige.
