PREFACE

The intern’s first-hand teaching experiences from my internship training at the

Linga Global School in Annand Nagar, Krishnankoil, and 2023–2024 are
summarized in this report.

The title page, the recognition, the declaration, the preface, and the table of
contents make up the first section, known as the preliminaries.

The school's specifics, mission, vision, and goals are covered in the second section.
It also includes a synopsis of the weekly activities done by the intern and the first-
hand experiences as a pre-service teacher, including working with the principal,
staff, and students.

6
THE START OF THE INTERNSHIP JOURNEY

To fully appreciate the significance of the lessons one learns in class, it is

imperative that one make use of one’s teaching abilities. One must communicate
with those who have specialised knowledge in many fields of education. Since
their opinions and views about the work are so significant, they can be used while
facing many difficult situations and problems in our careers.

The newly learned concepts are essential because they help us to act in an
appropriate suitable way that is appropriate for the classroom. It is quite simple to
obtain employment if one is aware of the practical experience necessary for an
internship.

An official letter furnished with the details of the intern and the duly signed by the
authorities concerned was duly verified and accepted which flagged off the start of
the internship.

THE CLOSING OF AN INTERNSHIP:

33
The last day for a teacher can be a mix of emotions—a culmination of all the
hard work, relationships built, and the joy of seeing students grow. There's a sense
of accomplishment in knowing that you've made an impact on young lives, but it's
often tinged with bittersweet feelings of saying goodbye. Teachers might spend the
day reflecting on memories, sharing advice, and expressing gratitude to colleagues
and students. There's a sense of closure and anticipation for the future, whether it's
retirement, a new job, or simply moving on to another chapter in their teaching
journey. It's a day filled with nostalgia, appreciation, and hope for the legacy left
behind.

The last day as a teacher can be a whirlwind of emotions. It's a day filled
with mixed feelings—excitement for the future, nostalgia for the memories created,
and a touch of sadness for saying goodbye to a routine and a community that has
been a significant part of your life. There's often a sense of reflection, reminiscing
about the moments shared with students, the challenges overcome, and the growth
witnessed throughout the academic year or even many years of teaching. It's a time
to celebrate achievements, acknowledge the efforts of both students and
colleagues, and express gratitude for the support received. Saying goodbye can be
tough.

Teachers often form strong bonds with their students, and leaving those
relationships behind can tug at the heartstrings. There might be farewell speeches,
cards, gifts, or even small ceremonies arranged by students and colleagues to
honour the departing teacher. At the same time, there's a sense of anticipation for
what's to come—a new chapter, whether it's retirement, a transition to a different
career, or perhaps just a change of school or grade level. The last day marks the
end of one journey but also signals the start of a new adventure.

STRUGGLES AND SOLUTIONS:

34
STRUGGLES:

As a teacher, various challenges might arise that can test your patience, resilience,
and adaptability. Some common struggles teachers face include:

Workload: Teachers often juggle numerous responsibilities, from lesson planning

and grading to administrative tasks and extracurricular activities. Balancing these
demands while maintaining quality instruction can be overwhelming.

Diverse Learning Needs: Each student is unique, and catering to diverse learning
styles, abilities, and needs within one classroom can be challenging. Adapting
teaching methods to accommodate everyone requires creativity and flexibility.

Behavioural Issues: Managing classroom behaviour and fostering a positive

learning environment is crucial but can be challenging, especially when dealing
with disruptive behaviour or conflicts among students.

Resource Constraints: Limited budgets or access to teaching materials and

resources can hinder effective teaching. Teachers often have to find innovative
ways to work around these constraints.

Parental Involvement and Communication: Building strong relationships with

parents and effectively communicating student progress and challenges can
sometimes be a struggle, particularly in cases where parental involvement is
limited.

Standardized Testing Pressure: Meeting standardized testing requirements while

ensuring a holistic education can create stress for both teachers and students,
leading to a focus on test preparation that may overshadow other valuable learning
experiences.

SOLUTIONS:

35
Certainly! Here are some strategies and solutions that teachers often employ
to navigate the challenges they face:

Effective Time Management: Prioritize tasks, create schedules, and utilize

time-saving techniques like batch grading or planning. Also, don't hesitate to
delegate or seek help when needed.

Differentiated Instruction: Embrace various teaching methods to

accommodate diverse learning needs. Use a mix of visual, auditory, and
kinaesthetic techniques, and consider individualized learning plans for students
with unique requirements.

Classroom Management Techniques: Establish clear rules and routines,

employ positive reinforcement, and employ strategies like positive behaviour
interventions and support (PBIS) to manage classroom behaviour effectively.

OUTCOMES:

36
⮚ Skill development: Learning and improving skills such as writing, verbal

communication, research, technology, teamwork, and leadership (view

Career Competencies). It is the development of these skills that often
represent the major benefits of an internship

⮚ And I learned how to manage the students and make the engaged and active

in classroom. I learned to teach, manage and develop, my teaching skills by

doing this internship.

⮚ This internship is very helpful for me to improve my skills and my

communication skills.

⮚ Improved Learning Environment:

Effective classroom management strategies create a positive

atmosphere conducive to learning, where students feel engaged, respected,
and motivated to participate.

⮚ Enhanced Student Performance:

Differentiated instruction and tailored learning plans cater to diverse

learning styles, helping students grasp concepts more effectively and
achieve better academic outcomes.

⮚ Professional Growth:

Actively engaging in professional development opportunities not only

keeps teachers updated with the latest teaching methodologies but also
enhances their skills and confidence in the classroom.
