Abstract:

The Korangi Power Complex (KPC) is the oldest site in the KE Generation Fleet,
established in 1965. It faces infrastructure deterioration, particularly the steel sheet pile
wall, due to adverse environmental effects such as seawater, high humidity, and
temperature variations caused by tide levels. This project aims to rehabilitate the
deteriorating steel sheet pile wall at the outfall of KPC to ensure stability and prevent
land loss.

The project follows a four-phase lifecycle: initiation, planning, implementation, and

closure. The initiation phase includes a business case, problem statement, and analysis
of preferred solutions. The planning phase involves developing management plans for
scope, schedule, cost, quality, resource, procurement, risk, stakeholder, and
communication. These plans outline strategies and approaches to be implemented.

The scope management plan defines project objectives, deliverables, milestones, and
technical requirements. The schedule management plan includes activity descriptions,
dependencies, and durations. The cost management plan involves estimation and
costing methods. The quality management plan ensures compliance with ISO
certification standards. The resource management plan details resource allocation. The
procurement management plan describes the purchasing process.

The risk management plan identifies, assesses, and develops response strategies for
project risks. Stakeholder and communication management plans facilitate effective
engagement and communication. The implementation phase consists of execution and
monitoring/controlling. IT tools like MS Excel and MS Project are used for tracking
progress.

The closure phase focuses on achieving project objectives within the agreed scope, cost,
and quality. Site inspections and completion reports are prepared. By following this
lifecycle, the rehabilitation of the sheet piling at KPC will be efficiently executed,
ensuring long-term stability and functionality of the power complex.
