World-Better to Travel or To Read About

By – Amrit

Travelling is a fun. Reading books on exotic places is immersing. Travelling allows you to
escape from your stressful situation. Travel is a learning experience. Seeing other parts of the
world and immersing yourself in foreign cultures opens up completely new avenues of
discovery.

Travelling in itself can be educational and can open your eyes in ways you never thought
possible. When you are out on the road meeting new people and opening up to new
experiences, you may find that you are also slowly reinventing yourself. Travel can open up
so many doors and provide for so many adventures, both planned and spontaneous.

A person can make memories while travelling as it is the best time which one spends with
friends or family. The photographs, blogs, videos make those moments precious as they can
be relieved afterwards, also travelling exposes a person to different cultures, their language
and the demography of that place.

Having said that, travelling as a means of escape may sometimes take the form of running
away from reality. Too much travel may develop a sense of homesickness at some point. Life
at home will go on without you and you might miss some important moments you would have
yearned to be present at. Travel can also be extremely expensive putting an unnecessary strain
on the purse.

Q2. Rashmi is President of her school Library Club. She decides to write an article on the need
to develop the habit of reading as she strongly feels it is fading among the present-day students.
(Word limit: 120-150 words)

Why is reading important?

-by Rashmi

Mark Haddon has rightly quoted, “Reading is a conversation. All books talk, but a good book
listens as well.” Every book opens up new dimensions of thoughts for the reader. Reading
books is one of the constructive habits that helps one improve his or her focus and broader
horizons of thought processes. However, the habit of reading is taking a backseat due to many
reasons.
Digital technology is the major reason for deteriorating reading habits among students. To
improve reading habits in children, they should be taken on trips to a library. They should be
encouraged to read textbooks to inculcate reading habits. Most importantly, reading space for
children should be created.

Thus, with collective efforts, reading habits can be instilled in the children as it is a wonderful
way to build a child’s language, social and emotional skills. Francis Bacon has rightly said,
“Reading maketh a full man.”
