OUR STORY
From the mountains of Missoula, MT, every American Eagle Instrument begins with a visionary design
and US-made steel that is expertly shaped and hand-honed by master craftsmen. Instruments may seem
complicated with their many engineered angles, sophisticated metals a
nd ergonomic grips. But like any
tool, the magic is in the performance.
Used with pride by generations of dental professionals across the globe, American Eagle Instruments
bestow a simple confidence and trusted heritage of US quality craftsmanship.
Each class of instrument has a life expectancy based on its intended use. Due to various contributing
factors which could expedite or prolong the effective life of an instrument, it is only reasonable to
determine an average life expectancy.
If within the average life expectancy of an instrument our customer experiences corrosion, breakage,
or joint failure, American Eagle Instruments will, at our discretion, replace, repair or credit the full value
of that instrument to the original owner with proof of purchase.

XP® SHARPEN-FREE
TECHNOLOGY
XP SHARPEN-FREE BENEFITS
Maintains Its Original Sharp Edge: These razor sharp edges start and stay sharp longer
than any other instrument on the market.
Thinner Blade Design: Since XP Sharpen-Free Instruments are sharpen-free, they are
10% thinner. This allows for easier access of periodontal pockets and interproximal areas.
More Comfort, Less Fatigue: An instrument that is always sharp means only light
pressure is needed to “plane” away calculus.

PERIODONTAL
The M23 XP Sharpen-Free Thin allows for superior supra and interproximal adaptation, and accessibility on all teeth. It also
adapts to mesial and distal line angles of all teeth. Its versatility has the potential to replace all posterior and anterior sickle
scalers, streamlining preventive and periodontal treatment setups.
Our very popular supragingival access instrument is now thinner, reaching all areas of supragingival calculus like never
before. The Blackjack XP Sharpen-Free Thin has the potential to replace all posterior and anterior sickle scalers, including the
H6-7, streamlining preventive and periodontal treatment set ups.
The Barnhart XP Sharpen-Free Thin design kicks universal convenience up a notch, making adaptation easier in a wide range
of shallow pockets. Curettes are typically too bulky to easily access anterior pockets without tissue damage, particularly at
the line angles. The Barnhart XP Sharpen-Free Thin easily adapts in this area, accessing calculus beyond a curette’s reach
with bulkier designs.
The Gracey Access 1-2 XP Sharpen-Free Thin curette is useful in pockets greater than 4mm in all anterior areas, as well as
buccal and lingual molar furcations.
The Gracey Access 7-8 XP Sharpen-Free Thin curette is used in pockets greater than 4mm in pre-molar areas, as well as buccal
and lingual molar furcations.
The Gracey Access 13-14 XP Sharpen-Free Thin curette is designed for use in distal surfaces and pockets greater than 4mm
in premolar and molar areas. An extended shank improves access to all distal surfaces and pockets of the terminal molars.
The Gracey Access 15-16 XP Sharpen-Free Thin is a wonderful improvement on the 11-12. The 15-16 shank design improves
angulation for better access in all posterior mesial, buccal and lingual areas while easing hand position and reducing operator
fatigue. Accessing posterior concavities and furcations is easy and efficient with the 15-16 shank design.
DOUBLE GRACEY™
Truly a universal instrument, Double Gracey instruments have rounded toes and two (2) cutting edges,
combining the best features of Gracey and Universal curettes. Advantages of using Double Graceys include
easy adaptation to mesial, distal, buccal and lingual surfaces without switching or repositioning the instrument.
The mini versions allow easier access into deeper pockets, tighter interproximal areas and furcations. All Double
Gracey instruments are sharpen-free with American Eagle Instruments’ patented XP® Sharpen-Free Technology.

Fine Grit
Sharpening dental instruments can be inconvenient, tedious and challenging. However, it is important to maintain sharp
edges on your curettes and scalers. Our Simply Sharp Kit is designed with your convenience in mind. The double-sided stone
offers you the choice of an extra-fine surface on one side and coarse grit on the other. The kit also includes a powerful 10x
loupe for examining your edges. A sharpening test stick is included to conveniently test the cutting edge.
SHARPENING TECHNIQUE
1. Using the 10x magnification loupe, inspect cutting edges for defects.
2. Pick your method, sharpen your instrument and test (using the test stick).
3. Inspect again by using the magnification loupe for proper angle, edge contour and sharpness
(a sharp edge will not reflect light).
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3. Make adjustments as needed until the desired edge is achieved.
SHARPENING TEST STICK - 6 PACK I AESASTP (shown) I SHARPENING TEST STICK I AESASTS
To maintain optimal cutting edges on your instruments, American Eagle Instruments recommends routine sharpness
testing by use of a test stick. To test for sharpness, simply stroke the test stick as you would during use. If the instrument
“grabs,” it is sharp; if it does not, it should be sharpened or discarded.
