CLOSED BED MAKING

1. Stand on the right side and face the bed in order to avoid
overreaching and twisting of the body.
2. Holding it at its centerfold, place the bottom sheet at the midline
(foot part of the bed), keeping the wider hem in line with the
bottom edge of the mattress.
3. Unfold the sheet and move towards the head part, keeping the
centerfold along the center of the bed.
4. Lift the mattress with one hand and with the other hand tuck the
excess length of the bottom sheet under the head part of the
mattress, and make a half miter corner (follow procedure)
5. Place one foot forward flex the knees, and while rocking
backward, tuck the sheet along the side of the bed.
6. If needed, place the rubber sheet followed by the draw sheet.
Tuck them together under the mattress.
7. Unfold the top sheet, wrong side up at the head part of the
mattress, with the centerfold at the center of the bed.
8. Tuck it at the foot part and make a half miter corner.

9. Go to the other side to finish the bed. Make the half-miter


corner of the bottom sheet at the head part.
10. Pull the bottom sheet tightly, grasping the sheet with the palms
downward so that the action is produced by the arm and the
shoulders.
11. Tuck it along the side of the bed with palms upward, and the
knees flexed as mentioned.
12. Do the same with the rubber and the draw sheets.

13. Tuck the top sheet at the foot part of the bed and make the
half-miter corner.

14. Get the pillow and fluffs its contents.

15. Put on the pillow case this way:


a) If both ends of the pillow case are open – insert one arm
through the pillow case by grasping it at the other end of
the pillow, while the other hand adjusts the pillow case.
b) If only one end is open - invert the pillow case and hold one
corner from the inside. With the same hand, grasp one
corner of the pillow while the other hand adjusts the pillow
case.
16.Place the covered pillows on the head part of the bed and
under the top sheet with the open end of the pillow opposite the
door
17.Cover with the bedspread and tuck it at the foot part.

18.Evaluate using the following criteria:


a. Smooth, wrinkle-free surface.
b. Tight corners.
c. Low position.
OPEN BED MAKING

19.Folds back the top sheet 12-18 inches from the head part and
either:
a) Fanfold it towards the foot part, or

b) Fold one side obliquely across the bed.

20. Arranges the pillows such that the seam of the pillowcase is
underneath or towards the head part of the bed.
21.Evaluate using the following criteria:
a) Smooth, wrinkle-free surface.
b) Tight corners.
c) Low position.

22. Timeliness – done in desired time.
