A. READING COMPREHENSION
There is an old proverb : "You never know what you have until it´ s gone."
This makes me feel that we sometimes believe the happiest moments of our
lives are the ones which can not be repeated ”, Alexander Richards , a
Researcher from Boston said. “I remember that as a child my grandmother
used to tell me stories before going to bed, I also have a clear memory of the
day I met my girlfriend. However , the clearest memory of happiness is the
day in which my first child was born. You see, those happy moments are
gone now and they cannot be replaced by others. So I conclude that at the
time they happened , they were the happiest.
According to Michael Anthony, the author of "How to be Happy," true happiness comes from
inside ourselves . This isn't a new idea, or even his personal discovery but it still sounds true. “It
is up to us to create happy moments in our lives”, he says.
There have been centuries of old debate between psychologists and sociologists to find the
true definition of happiness and how to obtain it, but it was hard to get to a conclusion.
According to several ancient and modern thinkers, happiness is influenced by the attitude we
have in any particular situation.
“The happiest moments are the ones we recognize when they happen in our lives . Robert
Holden, PhD says. "The ancient belief that happiness has to be a divine gift has conducted to
centuries of pain, guilt and deception. As you can see, there nothing that hasn´t been said
before ”
