Office of Undergraduate Research

After taking a look at the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR)’s website, I came to the conclusion
that the promise on the front page of the website that says, ‘Research is for everyone’, is upheld for
the students of my major. The website provides information about how to get started, people who
can guide us, funds available and also how to manage research with academic studies.

Another thing I noticed was that almost all ‘Peer Mentors’ who are available to guide students
through their journey in research, are all majoring in some branch of the subject of ‘Biology’. So, as a
biology major student on the pre-med track, I have the benefit of selecting a ‘Peer Mentor’ who can
best help me out.

The website also guides students on making a good first impression and searching for the right
mentor. Information about the annual conferences, both national and international are available for
undergraduate students who are doing research and all the necessary points are mentioned on the
website as well.
