The First Term English Language Exam

Part One: Reading. (15 points)

A. Comprehension. (08 points)
Read the text then do the activities that follow.

Hi Souad,
How’s it going? I hope you’re doing great. I’ve always wanted to get to know
someone from Algeria and I couldn’t miss the chance once I came across your profile.
My name is Helga Arnold. It’s a common name here in Norway. I’m 16 years old
and I’m in the 11th grade. My high-school is just a few blocks away from my house, so I
sometimes go there on foot, except when it’s raining. I love walking in the rain but my
mother never lets me do it. She happens to be a teacher at my school, and we usually walk
there together. My father, who works as a doctor, offers to drive us by his car but mom
never accepts since the school isn’t that far. So my father only drives my 5 year-old sister
to her kindergarten.
I’m extremely passionate about learning new languages. At the moment, I’m trying
to learn both Spanish and Japanese. I’m an introvert, so I spend most of my time at home
either watching anime or drawing manga. Ah yes, I’ll share with you some of my art. I
hope you’ll like it.
Enough about me for now. It’s your turn to let me know about yourself.
