Students will create an original Superhero that can save the world from an issue of their
choice that we are facing today. They will research their superhero, create a monologue for their
original superhero; create a chest logo, costume sketch, and superhero mask; and complete the
elements of art reflection. All of these worksheets are included in this packet.
Essential Questions:
● What are some issues in society and what is needed to fix those issues?
● How do the elements of design play into superhero and comic strips?
● How can good design help address social issues?

Why Superheros?

Project Timeline
Week One:
1. Look through the powerpoint and watch the video of Ms. Rose explaining this
project.
2. Select a social issue and answer the Superhero Character Analysis.
3. Write a Superhero Monologue
Week Two:
4. Choose one of the Superhero projects and complete for a grade:
a. Design and make a Superhero Chest Logo
b. Design and Costume Design Sketch
c. Design a Superhero Mask
5. Upload Your video to Flipgrid of you presenting your project.
a. Slate your first and last name, grade, and introduce your Superhero.
b. Tell us what social issue you wanted your superhero to fight against.
c. What was the most challenging part of this project.
d. Read your monologue. Upload the Monologue to Flipgrid.
e. Discuss the Elements of Art you used in your design. (line, shape, color,
pattern, texture, form, value)
