Worksheet for making paper cireuit Part A: Conductivity of materials and construction of a circuit Some materials such as metals and graphite ean conduct electricity but some cannot. Please use the following materials (1) a button cell, (2) an LED (light-emitting diode) light (the long leg is-+ve pale and the short leg is —ve pole; connecting the LED light to the wrong direetion will cause overheating of the LED) and (3) conducting tape (which is made up of copper and is used to replace cleetricity wire) to construct a paper circuit for studying the electrical conductivity of aluminium foil, paper clip, coin, pencil lead (whieh contain graphite and lead), plastic, eardboard and ‘wood splint. Q.1 Draw a diagram of a paper circuit to test the electrical conductivity of different materials. Q.2 Construct the paper circuit on a piece of paper, take a photo of the circuit and upload it to Google Classroom. Q.3 What are the precautions when you use the LED light, condueting tape and button cell to make the paper circuit? , W Show ' { LED lik J Q4 Complete the following table. Materials Conductor (//Non- Materials ‘Conductor (¥)/Non- conductor (x) conductor (x) ‘Aluminium foil | wv Wooden splint é Paper clip | . Plastic sheet ye Pencil lead i, Cardboard I Coin Part B: Making paper circuits with LED lights in series and parallel Q.5 Draw two diagrams for a paper cireuit connecting a bution cell with (1) two LED lights in series and (2) two LED lights in parallel using conducting tape. Q.6 Construct the cireuits in Q.5 and take a S-second video of each circuit to show the LED lights lighting up and upload it to the Google Classroom. Ifthe LED lights do not glow, you should cheek: the circuit or use two button cells in series instead of one. Q.7 What is the difference in observations for two set-ups in Q.5? Explain your answer briefly. & eae Q.9 What element(s) is/are used to make the LED light?
