Subject: Concerns and Solutions Regarding Zebra Crossing Safety and traffic rules
Sir/Madam,
Through the coloumn of your esteemed newspaper. I wish to raise my deep concern about the increasing
disregard for zebra crossings and traffic rules in our city. Despite being an essential component of road
safety infrastructure, many people seem to ignore the importance of these pedestrian crossings, leading to
hazardous situations on our roads.
In order to address this pressing issue, it is essential to raise awareness among the general public and within
educational institutions. We can achieve this through a multi-faceted approach, combining both in-person
and social media campaigns. Educational institutions can play a pivotal role in incorporating traffic rules and
etiquette into their curriculum, ensuring that our younger generation grows up with a better understanding of
road safety.
The consequences of not respecting zebra crossings are dire, not only for the pedestrians themselves but also
for other road users. We must highlight the potential risks and dangers associated with suchbehaviour,
emphasizing that it can result in accidents, injuries, or even fatalities.
To ensure adherence to traffic rules, we should consider imposing fines and penalties on those who violate
them. By doing so, we create a financial disincentive for breaking the law. Additionally, we can implement a
system of revoking driving licenses for repeated or severe violations. This would encourage individuals to
take traffic regulations more seriously, as the loss of a driving license could significantly impact their daily
lives.
Furthermore, strengthening our traffic police force and providing them with monitoring resources and
technology is crucial. With advanced surveillance and enforcement tools, our law enforcement agencies can
better control and monitor traffic violations. This not only acts as a deterrent but also ensures that those who
break the rules face the appropriate consequences.
It's high time when we collectively strive to make our city a place where road safety is a priority, and where
zebra crossings are respected by all.
Thanking You
Yours sincerely,
Soma Baruah

Sir/Madam,
Through the coloumn of your esteemed newspaper, I wish to express my opinion on the importance of
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and its advantages. As an intern at HAL Pvt. Ltd., a software
company in Hyderabad, I have had the privilege of working in one such CSR initiatives in which our
company took care of whitewashing of walls and provided basic amenities to the primary schools in our
locality. I believe CSR looks beyond the company profits and focuses on benefiting the greater community.
It encompasses various efforts, including brand-building activities, environmental initiatives, charity work,
ethical labour practices, and volunteer projects which in turns enhance a company's brand value and result in
positive public attention. Also, helps in increasing sales and play a vital role in poverty alleviation and
community development.
To make CSR an integral part of every organization, I suggest fostering a culture of social responsibility.
Companies should set clear CSR goals, integrate them into their business strategies, and measure their
impact transparently. Encouraging partnerships between businesses and non-profit organizations can
amplify the effectiveness of CSR initiatives.
In this era of heightened corporate-social partnership, let us applaud and support companies that embrace
CSR. It is not merely a buzzword but a transformative power that can reshape our world for the better. Let
us work together to make CSR a cornerstone of every organization's ethos.
Thanking You
Yours sincerely

Question 1: The construction sector is believed to be quite hazardous and has the maximum number of fatal
work injuries because apart from other causes, stakeholders in this sector tend to ignore safety regulations.
As a columnist for an e-zine, draft an article in about 120-150 words, on the theme of the importance of
worker safety in construction zones. Explore possible reasons for the prevailing situation and include
suggestions for addressing it. Support your ideas with cues given below.
Answer:
Building a Safer Tomorrow: Prioritizing Worker Safety in Construction Zones
By Rahul, Columnist, e-zine
Construction sites, often dubbed as hazardous zones, witness a disturbingly high number of fatal work
injuries. The alarming reality stems from a disregard for safety regulations by stakeholders in the
construction sector. The prevailing situation raises critical concerns about the well-being of workers who
face potential risks daily.
Extreme weather conditions, fatigue-induced accidents, and soil heaps becoming fatal traps highlight the
pressing need for a paradigm shift in safety standards. The discrepancy between construction managers and
workers' perspectives adds another layer of complexity to the issue.
To address this, comprehensive training programs must be implemented, emphasizing the importance of
adhering to safety protocols. Bridging the communication gap between managers and workers is crucial for
fostering a culture of shared responsibility. By recognizing these challenges and proactively implementing
safety measures, the construction sector can ensure a safer environment for its workforce, mitigating the risk
of fatalities. The collective effort towards revamping safety standards is not just a necessity but a moral
obligation for a thriving and responsible construction industry.

importance of young adults , as volunteers in one’s local community , the need to do so and the benefits

Unlocking the Power of Youth: A Call to Volunteerism
By Sohail Hassan, Class XII, ABC Public school
As young adults, we find ourselves at a unique crossroads of personal growth and community development.
Engaging in volunteer work not only contributes to our character development but also plays a pivotal role
in shaping the communities we belong to.
Volunteering offers a plethora of benefits on a personal level. It allows us to acquire new skills, gain
valuable experiences, and fosters a profound sense of purpose. These experiences are not just resume-
builders; they are life lessons that sculpt our perspectives and enrich our understanding of the world.
The impact of volunteerism extends beyond personal growth, reaching into the heart of our communities.
The positive ripple effect of our efforts resonates in the lives of those we touch. Whether it's organizing local
events, participating in environmental initiatives, or assisting the elderly, every act of volunteerism
contributes to the collective well-being of our community.
To get involved, one can explore various avenues such as joining community service organizations,
participating in charity events, or collaborating with local NGOs. By unlocking the power of youth through
volunteerism, we not only shape our destinies but also become architects of positive change in our
communities.
