Technology Ethics and Sustainability

For this module you have to fulfill a written project work, where you need learned
contents and acquired competences.

Assignment

Write a scientific paper on a topic from the field of technology/computer science related
to sustainability and/or ethics!

Topic selection

Suggested topics will be developed and offered during the course. However, you may
also submit topics on your own. The topic selection should be completed before the
Christmas break at the latest. Suggested topics can be communicated at the end of the
classroom sessions or by email.

Mandatory requirements

- Thematic reference of your self-selected technical/informatic topic to

sustainability and/or ethics.
- Elaboration of a scientific paper with corresponding structure, corresponding
procedure and corresponding components and quality requirements!

Form and structure

The scientific paper follows the procedure of scientific work and uses the IMRD structure
as outline, i.e. Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusions. Due to the
time needed to complete the paper, the methodology section is given a lower relevance,
giving the paper the character of an essay.

• Cover sheet
• Abstract

1. Introduction with thematic context (at the end problem, goal, challenge, thesis)

5. Conclussion

• Literature with at least 10 scientific sources

• List of figures (optional)

Scope
The project paper is between 3000 and 4000 words in length with a tolerance of
plus/minus 5% and a minimum of 10 scholarly sources.

- Content
o Topic with scientific question or problem or hypothesis derived from it.
o Content and quality of the thematic treatment
