Prelims Examination

Age Limit: The lower age limit of the candidate is 22 years and the upper
age limit is 35 years.

Syllabus 2023
The Jharkhand Judicial Services Recruitment process is carried out in three
stages:

Preliminary Exam
The prelims exam of Jharkhand Judiciary will consist of MCQs. There are a
total of 100 marks and the duration of the exam is for 2 hours.

General Knowledge including Current Affairs
The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908
The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973
The Indian Evidence Act, 1872
The Law of Contract, 1872
The Indian Penal Code, 1860
Mains Exam
The Jharkhand Judiciary Mains exam will have four papers of 100 marks each.
Each paper will be held for a duration of three hours.
Paper – I
 Procedural Law (The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 and The Code
of Criminal Procedure,1973)
 The Indian Penal Code, 1860
 The Limitation Act, 1963
 The Indian Evidence Act, 1872
Paper-II
 The Contract Act, 1872
 The Sales of Goods Act, 1930
 The Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996
 The Transfer of Property Act, 1882
 The Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881
Paper – III
 The Hindu Law and The Mohammedan Law
 The Specific Relief Act, 1963
 Jurisprudence
 Rent Control Law
Paper-IV
Hindi & English language test with Essay, writing, Translation & Paraphrasing.

Viva-Voce
The viva-voce test will be held for 100 marks. The qualifying marks for
General category students is 25% and for SC/ST/EBC & OBC category
students is 20%. The final selection of the candidates will be done based on
the marks obtained in the Mains Exam and the Interview rounds both.
