GREEN® Garbage and Linen Chutes

The brand says it all. Upon introducing the garbage and linen chutes to the GCC market in 2005, we
revolutionized the chute industry. We still are the only supplier that provides PLC controlled chutes compatible
with world known BMS, fire alarms, and vacuum collection systems. In 2012, and because of our rebranding
strategies, we renamed our chutes as GREEN® Chutes. By producing our chutes locally, we were able to
reduce our prices without affecting the quality required by our clientele. We continue to produce our complete
chute components in first class facilities as we have done since 2004.

Our GREEN®chutes and Green®vac Garbage, Linen, and

Pneumatic Waste Collection Systems come with the latest
technologies such as ‘Full BMS and Fire Department
Integration’ as standard.

At Contra International, we are committed to producing the

same quality products our customers expect with even better
customer support and lead times.

Whatever your needs, we have a solution for you. From

meeting bid specifications, to design, build, and install, we offer
a complete line of trash and linen chutes to suit your budget.

Get us involved in the planning stages, or when the job is started and rest assured
that costly delays will be eliminated. As for certifications, our chutes are produced
according to the stringiest European standards: UNI EN ISO 9002, TÜV, IMQ-
QUALITY CIG, VKF, AEAI N 10401, CSTB and AQM.
Think GREEN® _Public Furniture

Our multi-sourced products of public furnishing have the common characteristic of a

highly developed sense of product responsibility. Material selection is made with
special regard to protection of the environment. Corrosion-resistant galvanizing, user-
friendly handling, and a long mechanical life demonstrate our product philosophy. The
possibility of using either upright or suspended bins means flexible application of the
group of products to meet most demands in public areas. The common product
design is a valuable contribution to calm townscapes.

Our litter bins are available in a large range of possible designs,

construction material and in various RAL colors. The color of plastic bins
depends on the batch size. Paints to give special effects are available on
request, together with graphics and inscriptions in either silk-screen

MASTER CONTROLLER – OPERATION

This system not only allows one door open at a time, it allows for complete
system lock-out from the trash room below, interfaces with trash compactors to
lock out the chute when the compactor is full or at fault, interfaces with the
cleaning system to lock the doors during cleaning, and interfaces with
heat/smoke sensors and alarms to lock the chute if those alarms are available.
When ALL DOORS LOCK selector is in the OFF position, the system operation is
automatic. All doors are locked in the situations below:
- Any door is opened
- Compactor is full
- Compactor AUTO/HAND selector is in HAND position
- Cleaning system
- Emergency STOP button is depressed
- Fire alarm sounds (Optional. Requires signal from fire alarm controller)
- Main Isolation Switch is in OFF position

To clean the system, the operator must put the CLEANING SYSTEM selector in
ON position. This locks all intake doors and opens the solenoid valve at the top of
the chute. Note: A pressure of 0.5 bar is required at the uppermost cleaning
sprinkler.

If the operator needs to manually compact garbage, the Compactor AUTO/HAND

selector should be in HAND position. This will lock all intake doors and stop the
cleaning system if it is running.

SUBSTRATES AND PREPARATION

Substrates • Original Paint • Polyester Fillers • SMC

• Aluminium* • Plastic* • E-coat*
• Bare Metal* • Fiberglass* • Concrete*
• Galvanized* • GRP • Wood*
* Some substrates require additional surface preparation before applying
RAPTOR. See Substrate Preparation section for details.

Substrate Preparation To achieve best results with RAPTOR, good preparation is essential.
1. Remove all loose material and any rust from the surface to be coated.
2. Clean and degrease the surface.
3. Abrade the surface with P120-P180 grit sand paper.
4. Re-clean the surface.
* Aluminium, bare metal, and galvanized: prime with an etch primer, such as two
coats of U-POL ACID#8.
* Fiberglass and plastic: for optimal adhesion, use an adhesion promoter, such
as U-POL's GRIP#4.
* Wood: RAPTOR can go direct to stable wood. New wood requires sealing first.

APPLICATION

Spraying RAPTOR 1. Remove cap from RAPTOR bottle with the mixed RAPTOR
2. Attach the RAPTOR bottle to the U-POL SCHUTZ GUN
3. Adjust the air pressure on your compressor to 40-60 PSI
4. Apply to the prepared surface with an even sweeping motion to obtain the
desired texture
5. If applying additional coats allow to flash off for 60 minutes between coats

U-POL recommends that you spray a test panel with RAPTOR first to ensure
the desired texture is achieved

Rolling RAPTOR 1. Pour mixed RAPTOR into a suitable paint tray

2. Apply using an open textured roller
3. Cut in all corners and hard to reach areas with a brush
4. Load roller with the product and apply slowly using medium pressure
5. Rolling on RAPTOR results in a lower build. Additional coats will be
necessary. When applying additional coats, observe 40 minute flash off
period between coats
Do not use in extreme cold or hot temperatures.
Ideal application temperature is 20ºC with humidity of less than 60%.

Coats U-POL recommends applying 2 coats of RAPTOR.

Build / microns 1 Coat: 7.0 MILs 2 Coats: 12.0 MILs 3 Coats: 15.0 MILs
As applied using SCHUTZ Gun All measurements are approximate and are dependent on the application
method.

Flash-off / min @ 18-22°C

Between coats 60 minutes

IMPORTANT! Do not place heavy loads on the surface until RAPTOR is fully cured. Please see dry times below.
Drying Times
Touch Dry @ 20°C Less than 1 hour
Light Duty @ 20°C 2-3 days
Regular Duty @ 20°C 5-7 days
Force Drying @ 65°C 40 minutes. 5 days to build final hardness for heavy duty
Reducing flash off time, excessive film build and/or reduced temperatures will alter drying time.
Baking RAPTOR can be baked for 30 minutes @ 60°C. Baking will speed up
the initial cure, but it is still recommended that you wait 2-3 days for
light usage and 7 days for heavy duty usage.
I.R. Cure I.R. curing is not recommended.

Over Painting RAPTOR can be overpainted with most modern paint systems. When
overpainting, prep the surface as follows:
1. Let sprayed RAPTOR dry for 24 hours
2. Abrade with a fine abrasive pad
3. Clean and degrease

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. What can RAPTOR be tinted with?

A. For best results, use solvent basecoat colours. RAPTOR is compatible with any urethane based colour, including 2K
acrylic solid colour and mixed acrylic basecoats, and can be added up to 10% by volume. RAPTOR cannot be used
with water based polyester, or enamel paints.

Q. Does the milk colour of RAPTOR lighten up the tint colour? How can I get a brilliant colour?
A. For best colour match results, Tintable RAPTOR requires a urethane single stage colour. If you choose to use
basecoat, ask your paint supplier to leave the binder out of the formulation so it is pure pigment. The final colour will
appear slightly lighter than the base colour. Once mixed, check the colour of the tinted system before spraying and
adjust if critical.

Q. Can RAPTOR be applied on top of a 2-part Epoxy Primer?

A. As long as the primer is fully cured, RAPTOR can be applied on top of a properly prepared and sanded
2-part epoxy primer.

Q. Can RAPTOR be applied on top of a basecoat?

A. RAPTOR can be applied on top of a basecoat. The basecoat must be fully cured and properly prepared and sanded
before applying RAPTOR.

Q. Can RAPTOR be applied on top of a powder coat?

A. Yes, RAPTOR can be applied on top of a properly prepared and sanded powder coat.

Q. Can you use automotive paint tape with RAPTOR?

A. Yes, you can use automotive tape with RAPTOR. Wait between 15-20 minutes after applying RAPTOR before
removing the tape.

Q. I don’t need a shiny application. How can I get a dull finish?

A. There are proprietary matting agents available for other 2K products, which are suitable for use in RAPTOR.

Q. How do you change the colour after an incorrect colour has been sprayed?
A. If the colours are close, reapply with the correct shade of RAPTOR. If the colours are not close, strip back the
original RAPTOR and reapply.

Q. How can I get a textured grip finish?

A. Add about 50-100g per RAPTOR Bottle of clean/dry silica sand. Mix in the bottle and spray. If sand is added after
RAPTOR is sprayed, the sand will not fully adhere and will eventually brush off.

Q. What is the gloss level of RAPTOR?

A. The gloss level of Black RAPTOR is approximately 10 gloss units, or a satin finish.

Q. Can I apply Raptor directly to bare metal, aluminium, galvanised and steel?
A. ACID#8 Etch Primer must be applied first to bare metal surfaces.

Q. Can I apply Raptor directly to plastic surfaces?

A. S2003 Plastic Primer must be applied first.
