Any guess what has happened- Is it melting or burning

EXPLANATION -

It may look like Thermocol "melts" in the petrol . However,

the petrol is actually dissolving the polystyrene. In chemistry,
there is a common saying that "like dissolves like".
Thermocol and petrol are made of the same matter called as
alkene. Now the characteristics of both the ingredients are
lost and a new product is formed. This product shows the
character of neither a solid nor a liquid. It is a translucent
material which is brownish or yellowish white in color and
with viscosity more than that of a liquid and less than that of a
solid. While studying the properties of the material formed, it
is found that it looks like glue and can be used as a strong
adhesive.
Petrol is so expensive these days

It will be just cheaper to buy a superglue and use it

Make sure you do not repeat this at home as petol in highly

flammable and this was just an demonstation to the science
behind it
