Hi Mahad,

Here are five things I’m loving this week.

Free Event About Menopause

I’d like to share an upcoming free virtual event on March 14 called "Getting
Real About Menopause: A Modern Guide" featuring my friend and colleague
Elizabeth Boham, M.D. Liz has been part of our team at The UltraWellness
Center since 2007, where she currently serves as our Medical Director. She's a
functional and integrative medicine physician, nutritionist, educator and national
speaker. This interactive event is hosted by the Institute for Health & Healing
(IHH), one of the largest U.S. integrative medicine programs and the first
integrative medicine clinic certified by the State of California. Join IHH and Liz
to learn about the stages of menopause, how to reduce symptoms, medical
treatment, and holistic relief options. She’ll also discuss how we can all support
our loved ones during menopause. This means that everyone is welcome to
participate no matter your age or gender, we could all take away something
valuable from this event.

Decoding The Female Brain

In this short talk between Jim Kwik and Dr. Stephanie Estima, they break down
the fascinating differences between male and female brains. Dr. Estima
explains how the right and left sides of the brain relate to higher levels of
certain neurotransmitters like dopamine or serotonin, which greatly impact what
drives us. She also explains the biological reason females need more positive
reinforcement from their environment and why they actually benefit more from a
healthy sex life. This is a great resource for understanding the opposite sex and
maybe even finding some ways to better support those people in your life.
Following Healthy Lifestyle May Reduce Risk Of Long COVID

Up to 23 million Americans may suffer from long COVID, which is defined as

having COVID-19 symptoms four weeks or more after initial infection. This can
include a range of symptoms like fatigue, fever, and a variety of respiratory,
heart, neurological, and digestive issues. This article shares the results of a
study with 32,000 female participants which found that compared to women
without any healthy lifestyle factors, those with five or six factors had 49% lower
risk of long COVID. Among the six lifestyle factors, maintaining a healthy body
weight and getting adequate sleep (seven to nine hours daily) were the ones
most strongly associated with lower risk of long COVID. The results also
showed that, even among women who developed long COVID, those with a
healthier pre-infection lifestyle had 30% lower risk of having symptoms that
interfered with their daily life. The authors acknowledged that one explanation
could be that unhealthy lifestyle choices are linked to increased chronic
inflammation and immune dysregulation. One of many motivating reasons to
embrace a healthy lifestyle every day, even when you’re not sick.

A Daily Workout To Tackle Nagging Self-Criticism

Yale professor Dr. Laurie Santos has studied the science of happiness and
found that many of us do the exact opposite of what will truly make our lives
better. This episode from Dr. Santos’ podcast, The Happiness Lab, makes the
argument for practicing simple self-compassion exercises each day such as
breathing techniques to help us get through tough moments and self-criticism.
A daily "self-talk workout" might be just as beneficial as squats and push-ups.

Thinking about this quote…

“I know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable ability of man to

elevate his life by conscious endeavor.” - Henry David Thoreau

We are an amazing species in that we can set goals, push our minds and
bodies to new limits, and create our own reality through action and intention.
This quote reminds me that every day I have a chance to make my dreams
This quote reminds me that every day I have a chance to make my dreams
come true and it helps me reflect in gratitude on everything I’ve already
accomplished.

Wishing you health and happiness,
