Air Pollution

Introduction:

Air pollution as defined by Philippine Clean Air Act means any alteration of the physical, chemical and
biological properties of the atmospheric air, or any discharge thereto of any liquid, gaseous, or solid
substances that will or is likely to create or to render the air resources of the country harmful,
detrimental or injurious to public health, safety or welfare or which will adversely affect their utilization
for domestic, commercial, industrial, agricultural, recreational or other legitimate purposes.

Causes:

Human activities are the major causes of environmental pollution. As defined by the Philippine Clean Air
Act, air pollutants are any matter found in the atmosphere other than oxygen, nitrogen, water vapor,
carbon dioxide, and inert gases in their natural or normal concentrations that is detrimental to health
and the environment, which includes but is not limited to burning of garbage, dust, chemical mist,
insecticide and even the refrigerators and air conditioning units we use in our households are one of the
major causes of air pollution. Another major source of air pollutants is human activity outside our
household, which includes smoke from cars and factories and large emissions of dust from industrial
machines.

Effects

Here are the main consequences for the environment, with serious consequences for the purification of
the air we breathe. It also contributes to the formation of acid rain, atmospheric precipitations in the
form of rain, frost, snow, or fog, which are released during the combustion of fossil fuels and
transformed by contact with water and steam in the atmosphere. Global warming and climate change,
the presence of excessive greenhouse gases and mainly to human health it can cause serious health
issues like respiratory diseases that can cause lung damage and cardio vascular disease.

Conclusion

It is our responsibility to keep and prevent air pollution that will also be beneficial to us and the future
generation. Let us be a responsible with our actions that may affect the environment we lived in. We can
accomplish this task by taking good care of our nature and avoid doing things that cause air pollution.
Join tree planting activities and avoid the use of vehicles every step you take. Reduce the amount of
harmful gas being released into the atmosphere.
