UNIT – I

1. a) Discuss the Newton's method of root finding. Show that it has a quadratic order of 10
convergence.

b) Show that the Newton's method is not faster than the scant method by comparing these 10
methods.

c) Find smallest positive root of x − tan (x) = 0 by Newton's method. 10

d) Explain Newton's method for solving a system of non linear equations. 10

UNIT – II

2. a) Define Hermite polynomial interpolation. Obtain the formula for cubic Hermite 10
polynomial, obtain the divided difference formula & also obtain the error formula.

b) State & prove the Hermite Gennochi theorem. 10
