Good News!

Luke 2:8-14
8 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping
watch over their flock by night.
9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone
around them, and they were greatly afraid.
10 Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings
of great joy which will be to all people.
11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the
Lord.
12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths,
lying in a manger."
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising
God and saying:
14 "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"

GOOD NEWS OF GREAT JOY FOR ALL PEOPLE!

What is this good news of great joy for all people? There is born a Savior, who is the
Messiah, the Lord. The savior has come!

THE SAVIOR HAS COME!

Savior, Deliverer, Rescuer.

Why was there a need for a Savior? Why would this be good news of great joy for
everyone?

Lets start at the very beginning…

IN THE BEGINNING, GOD…

God created everything in mature form.

Time, energy, and design were compressed in a moment.
Scientists estimate the earth to be about 4 billion years old, and the universe is 14
billion years old.

WE WERE CREATED FOR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

Adam and Eve were created for relationship with God.

God walked and talked with them in the Garden of Eden.

BAD NEWS! THEY MESSED THINGS UP!

THROUGH ONE MAN, SIN ENTERED.

Sin and its consequences.

God is a holy God, and our sin separates us from God.
All of creation subjected to corruption.
Sin, satan and death ruled over the human race.

OUR DILEMA

We have been designed by God for relationship with God.

We have been designed by God to live with God on the earth.

So, people take different approaches.

Some become religious. Some become atheists. Some become agnostics.

RELIGION IS MAN’S ATTEMPT TO REACH GOD. BUT OUR SINFULNESS REMINDS US WE

ARE DISQUALIFIED.

ATHEISM IS MAN’S ATTEMPT TO DO AWAY WITH GOD. BUT CREATION KEEPS SPEAKING
TO US ABOUT GOD.
WE CANNOT SILENCE CREATION’S VOICE.

AGNOSTICISM IS MAN’S EFFORT TO NOT BE BOTHERED WITH GOD. BUT ETERNITY

WITHIN US DEMANDS WE FACE UP TO REALITY.

None of these approaches deal with the root issue of sin.

The Bible’s message is simple. God provided the remedy.

GOD REACHES OUT IN LOVE

BUT WHY DID THERE HAVE TO BE A SAVIOR?

One man Adam brought us in subjection to sin, satan and death.

So there had to be one man, who would bring us out. But only someone who was
untainted by sin, superior to satan and Lord over death could do this for us.
No other human person could save us since every person is born in sin, born under
satan and subject to death.
The only way we could be saved was if God Himself became our Savior. This is Jesus.
Emmanuel, God with us, God for us.

Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life, conquered satan and death. He did it all for us.

THROUGH ONE PERFECT MAN, SALVATION WAS PROVIDED.

Luke 2:11
11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the
Lord.

THE SAVIOR CAME FOR YOU!

JOURNEY THROUGH LIFE WHILE GROWING IN A WONDERFUL PERSONAL

RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.

ENTER INTO AN ETERNITY WITH GOD.
