We parked our car in the parking lot, took a trolley and got into the store. There were many customers and the
music was playing aloud. We strolled through the different aisles and picked the things we were looking for. My
sister who is a big fan of music took some CDs and a pair of headphones. While we were paying at the cash desk,
an alarm went on and the security guard stopped us. He said, we had stolen some CDs from the music aisle. I
become furious and started shouting at him. However, He insisted on searching my purse which he did. To mu big
surprise, there were two CDs in it. I swore to him that I had not taken anything, but he didn’t want to believe
me. While I was about to burst crying, my sister started laughing aloud. It was just a prank. Everything was on

A lot of people believe that using humour is useless and has negative effects.
Write an article to your school magazine about the benefits of using humour with moderation giving example to
defend your point of view.
23
Dear editor,
I would like to react to issue of using humour and its effects. Contrary to those who think that it is useless and harmful, I
strongly believe that it is beneficial and fruitful.
First of all, it facilitates communication both at home and at work. To illustrate, when in a good mood, employees can
discuss different work issues with their boss. As a result, they become more productive and put more efforts in their work.
Second, it makes change very easy. For example, when a student is obliged to live in a different country, he will find no
obstacles to make new friends in the host country if uses his good sense of humour.
Last but not least, it is more than rewarding when used with moderation at school. By way of illustration, students enjoy
working with witty teachers who create a stress-free atmosphere. As an effect, they get excellent marks while having a good
time.
In sum, the use of humour can bring about miracles since it reduces stress and helps to avoid burnouts.
I am looking forward to your reaction to my contribution.
Yours faithfully,
Michael Moore

VI. Writing a formal e-mail

My address

Ministry of Family and solidarity/ Rabat

Date: April 27th, 2021

Dear Mr. Minister,

(why are you writing?) I would like to let you know about a serious issue/ problem in Morocco. More and more children
are being employed in different forms of hard labor instead of going to school. Some of them are even exploited in begging,
drug dealing or sex matters.

(Remind him of the child rights violated) As you know your honor, this is a violation of their rights to have a proper
schooling since at their age they have to be at schools and not at work. It is also an infringement of their right to play and to
be safe in their bodies and minds.

(What can he do to help?) Your highness can make a huge difference in the lives of these children by enforcing strict laws
to punish anyone who abuses them. You can also launch sensitization campaigns to raise people’s awareness to the necessity
of protecting children. Moreover, you can help poor families financially so that they can send their children to schools.

Your urgent intervention is of paramount importance. I am looking forward to your positive reaction.
Yours faithfully,
24
