Description for the 2024/25 Academic Year

Credits 15 Credits

Number of Places
The number of places on the Minor in Digital Play is limited to 20 students.
If fewer than 2 students register for this minor, the programme may be cancelled in accordance with §
9 II of the Regulatory Framework.

Language Requirements
Students who wish to take the Minor in Digital Play must fulfil the following language requirements:

Students must declare in their application that they possess the following entry-level competencies

- Familiar with visual design processes
- Able to independently use graphic design software (3D or 2D, e.g. Cinema 4D, Blender, Illustrator)

2 to 7 students must possess the following entry-level competencies:


- Able to independently use one or more programming languages (e.g. Java, C#, C++)

Programme Outcomes
On completing the Minor in Digital Play, students will be able to:
- Methodically develop playful forms of interaction and design them in a sophisticated manner
- Playfully transfer creative work into the digital realm and interactively bring it to life
- Visually enrich, emotionally deepen, and expressively extend the player/user experience
- Exploratively design innovative solutions for digital artifacts and experimentally explore the
possibilities of new technologies
- Independently use real-time development environments (game engines) in an artistic manner
- Creatively open up new fields of application for real-time development environments
- Purposefully deepen the following areas: virtual sensation, playful experience, generative design,
procedural animation/visualization, programming and engine technology

Programme Structure
Students pass the Minor in Digital Play if they have earned 15 credits on this minor, of which 15 credits
have been earned in compulsory modules belonging to the module area “Digital Play”.

Programme Duration
As a rule, students must complete the Minor in Digital Play in 2 semesters.

Frequency of Offering
New students may enter the Minor in Digital Play:
- Every autumn semester

The Minor in Digital Play is offered and organised by the Department of Design.
