Experience Addressing Oregon’s

Biggest Challenges

DISTRICT IN PLAY TOSS UP TOSS UP

MEET JAMIE
Raised by a single mom when she was young, Jamie McLeod-Skinner worked her way through college and became
an engineer, a public servant, and a small business owner. Jamie led the effort to help Oregon communities
recover after the devastating wildfires and she currently works in emergency preparedness, affordable housing,
and as a leader in protecting Oregon’s watersheds. She will bring her diverse experiences to address our biggest
challenges: fighting for working Oregonians, protecting our environment, and preserving our democracy.

The granddaughter of factory workers, and a former union member herself, Jamie
grew up watching her single mom wake up early to drive a school bus, teach all day,
bus kids home, and pick fruit in the summers to put food on their table.

After graduating from Ashland High School (where she still holds the 800-meter
track record!), Jamie worked her way through college, earning degrees in Civil
Engineering from Rensselaer and in Regional Planning from Cornell before returning
home to earn a Law degree from the University of Oregon.

Jamie’s public service career has centered around bringing people together to
solve tough problems.

After working as an Engineer and Environmental Analyst, Jamie began her public
service career, working to repair schools and hospitals and designing water and
sanitation systems in post-war Bosnia and Kosovo.

She then returned home to serve her community, working to improve water quality
and sustainability, address the impact of drought, and start a community-focused
affordable home ownership project.

In 2021, Jamie led wildfire recovery efforts as Interim City Manager in a Southern
Oregon community that lost a third of its homes and businesses to a catastrophic
fire. She built regional partnerships to secure millions in state and federal recovery
aid and emergency housing and advocated for farmworkers experiencing high
rejection rates for emergency relief.

Jamie currently serves on the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board. She and
her wife, Cass, live with their rescue dogs in Central Oregon, where they also raise
goats, and chickens and enjoy the great outdoors.
