Section 20
Projections of Planes

1. A regular pentagon of 70 mm sides is resting on H.P. on one of its sides with its surface
30ο inclined to H.P. Draw its projections when the side in H.P. makes 60ο angle with V.P.

2. The top view of a plate, the surface of which is perpendicular to the V.P. and inclined at
45° to the H.P. is a circle of 75 mm diameter. Draw its true shape.

3. A square PQRS of 65 mm side has a corner on V.P. and 30 mm above H.P. All the sides
of the square are equally inclined to V.P. and parallel to H.P. Draw its projections and show
its traces.

4. A circle of 100 mm diameter is resting on H.P. on end A of its diameter AC which is 45ο
inclined to H.P. while its TV is 60ο inclined to V.P. Draw its projections.

5. A rhombus of diagonals 35 mm and 80 mm long respectively has one end of its longer
diagonal in H.P. while that diagonal is 35ο inclined to H.P. If the top view of the same
diagonal makes 50ο inclination with V.P., draw its projections.

6. A 45°-45° set-square of 110 mm longest side is so kept that the longest side is in the H.P.
making an angle of 50° with the V.P. and the set-square itself inclined at 35° to the H.P.
Draw the projections of the set-square.

7. A thin rectangular plate of sides 75 mm x 45 mm has its shorter side in the V.P. and inclined
at 60° to the H.P. Project its top view if its front view is a square of 45 mm long sides.

8. Draw the projections of a circle of 80 mm diameter resting in the H.P. on a point A on the
circumference, its plane inclined at 60° to the H.P. and the top view of the diameter AB
making 40° angle with the V.P.

9. A regular hexagonal plate ABCDEF has its corner A in the V.P. The plate is inclined to the
V.P. at 30ο and the diagonal AD makes an angle of 55ο with the H.P. Draw the projection
of the plate if length of its side is 50 mm. Also determine the inclination of the plate with
the H.P.
10. Draw the projections of a circle of 60 mm diameter resting in the V.P. on a point P on the
circumference, its plane inclined at 60° to the V.P. and the diameter AB making 45° angle
with the H.P.
