Introduction
• South Processing Unit (SPU) is one of gas processing plant
in Tunu (PHM).
• SMP Platform : Slug Catcher and transfer Pump
• SCP Platfrom : LP compressor
• Main challenge : sand production from Well to surface
facility (Slug catcher and transfer pump)
• Repetitive pump breakdown due to sand carry over.

SMP Slug Catcher – Improve Separation Performance
SMP Slug catcher (SC) : Illustration Calming baffle
• ID : 5,000 mm, LT : 19,100 mm
• SC equipped with sand jetting system
• Existing weir height 400 mm (4ea).
• Operating pressure 8 barg.
Problem :
• Repetitive pump breakdown due to
sand carry over to suction liquid
transfer pump (LTP).
Idea :
• To Reduce turbulence effect during
slugging and Increase retention time
for sand / solid particle settlement & Calming Baffle
avoid sand carry over to LTP.
Proposal :
• To install “Calming Baffle” to reduce
turbulence effect during slugging &
extend the 4 weir without welding job.

Operating Temperature : 35-40 deg C
Design Pressure : 46.3 barg.
Flowrate : Qgas : 250 MMscfd, Q liquid : 20.000 BPD
