A study of Ted Hughes's poetry collection, "Birthday Letters". Divided
into ten sections, the book discusses groups of poems as well as giving
a biographical framework to the whole sequence. It also offers an
explanation of the connections between Hughes's work and that of
Sylvia Plath. However, to people familiar with Plath's work and life,
the book does not offer much that is new. It is intended more as a sort
of introduction for those who have no background knowledge of the
whole story. --Anja Beckmann
