DECKMA HAMBURG GmbH DECKMA Decksmaschinen und Automation Vertriebsgesellschaft in Hamburg mbH Function Test Procedure OMD-2005, OMD-2008 and OMD-24 The method of on site function testis to use the DECKMA “Test Fluid MEPC-107" as a reference standard The DECKMA “Test Fluid MEPC-107" contains a well defined mixture of polymer-particles and is coloured yellow. The standard suspension has to be diluted for function test. The “Test Fluid MEPC-107" is durable for a few months. Dilute the “Test Fluid MEPC-107" to 200m! with distilled water according the requirements, Shake the “Test Fluid MEPC-107” well before using. Note: This is only a function test, not a calibration check as required by MEPC.107(49): 4.2.11 The accuracy of the 15 ppm Bilge Alarms should be checked at IOPP Certificate renewal surveys according to the manufacturers instructions. Alternatively the unit may be replaced by a calibrated 15 ppm Bilge Alarm. The calibration certificate for the 15 ppm Bilge Alarm, certifying date of last calibration check, should be retained onboard for inspection purposes. The accuracy checks can only be done by the manufacturer or persons authorized by the manufacturer. Diluting table: ‘mi “Test Fluid MEPC-107° | Reading OMD-2005, in 200 mi water ‘OMD-2008, OMD-24 5 10 Due to difference in storage time and minor changes 7 as in mixing the reading may differ up to +/- 5 ppm. In E such cases the concentrations can be modified by 10 20 the operator to reach the alarm set point. Table 1 Function Test For a function test on site it is necessary, to have a definite fluid available which simulates oil content in water. With the OMD-2005, OMD-2008 and OMD-24 the “Test Fluid MEPC-107" in water solution with the concentration of 15ppm has to be used, ) Run'the system with clear oil free water and check the display showing 0-tppm. If not, clean proper the ‘sample tube ace. manual. Be sure that the Offset is set to zero (see manual). ) Stop any water flow, open the cell cap. ©) Shake the “Test Fluid MEPC-107" well. Dilute the fluid according Table 1 and stir it to get a homogeneous dilution (yellow light). This dilution is durable only for about an hour. 4) Empty the sample tube and fil it twice (frst for flushing the oil free water) with the diluted solution. ) Wait about a minute, to get rid of any air bubbles/foam from stiring the dilution. ) Check the reading for the next 2 minutes - it has to be in the intended range (see Table 1). Use the datalog system for check 49) If the reading is more than 5 ppm out of range check all items and try again: reading with oil free water (cleaning with a bottle brush), offset-setting, diption of “Test Fluid MEPC-107" h) Close the cell cap and flush with oil free water. |) The instrument is now ready for use.
