Title: Factors affecting the rate of evaporation (Proposal)

Problem Statement: Mary observed that her clothes that were at the front of the yard were
drying faster than the clothes that were bound at the side of her home. Plan and design an
experiment to explain the occurrence.
Hypothesis: Mary's clothes at the front of her yard is drying faster than the clothes that is at the
side of her home because of the sunlight whereas the factors that are influencing the clothes to
not dry fast at the side of her home is shade.
Aims: To determine the factors that help in evaporation.
To determine how sunlight affects the rate of evaporation by placing a beaker of water in
sunlight for a 2-hour period.
Apparatus/Materials: Distilled water
Petri Dish
Sponge

Diagram:
Method:
1. Gather all materials necessary.
2. Label the containers A, B, C.
3. Place containers A, B, C in sunlight.
4. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the petri dish B and C in sunlight.

Control:
1. Place a sponge in petri dish A
2. Place petri dish in a dark room
3. Tabulate all observations in a suitable table
