Learning Activities

Activities during the three (3) stages of attendance.

1. Interview a first-year college student and ask him/her on the activities that
he/she undertakes during the pre-enrolment stages. Further, ask him/her what
other activities are needed to make his/her college life enjoyable.

Answer:
A first-year college student I asked told me that an acquaintance party based on
the story told by her mother she wanted also to experience those party, an
orientation that will inform them on what is going on in a college institution
and a slight campus tour to be familiarized with the place.

2. Make another informal talk with upper-class students. Ask them on the
important activities to be undertaken during enrolment and post enrolment
stages. List as many activities. Opposite each activity, state the reason why
the activity is needed.

Answer:
During enrolment students and their families, generate a strong pool inquiries,
applications overall, increase completed applications from high-priority
applicants, applicants are most likely to enroll, interview the students, review
applications, encourage admitted students to enroll, remind admitted students
of deadlines for paperwork and deposits. Post enrolment introduce students to
faculty and peers, help them explore your academic programs, host on- and
off-campus events for admitted students, and reminders of important deadlines,
help students sign up for their first classes, manage summer orientation or
bridge programs, meet with incoming students, answer questions from students
and families.
B. Changing conditions where student affairs can respond

Observe the student population in a school of your choice. List the situational
trends in terms of increasing violence, the demographic shifts, and the expanding use of
information technologies.

Also, ask school management about the new revenues, new regulations initiatives
introduced in the school, especially this time of blended/online/modular learning.

Write your observations and insights in not more than 200 words.

Answer:

In a school with 2939 population of students, 987 male and 983 female junior high school
and a senior high school student composed of 496 males and 473 females is offering
blended learning modality. The school offered 3 curriculum program the K12 regular
curriculum with highest number of enrollees since the STE and SP ICT have admission
requirements. The STE and SPICT curricula have almost the same number of enrollees.
The challenges to teachers, to the school and to the department in general in reducing
dropout rates are perennial issues. It is really a responsibility to “Find them, reach them,
Keep them and Make them Complete School” as the aimed of the Dropout Reduction
Program (DORP) in the secondary schools. The effectiveness of the Dropout Reduction
Program (DORP) in reducing dropout rate and in increasing participation rate and
improving learning outcomes using formal, non-formal and informal approaches has been
proven in many schools across the country, but not to the extent of zero dropout. The
common causes of dropping-outs are:1. Family Matters/ Problems/ Feuds, 2. Lack of
Interest/ Distractions, 3. Poor Academic Performance, 4. Illness/ Health Issue, 5. Early
Marriage. But not violence as reason of drop out on the other hand one cause of poor
academic performance is the wrong use of technology students abuse themselves in using
gadgets and others related to technology and in some cases usage of technology can help
in learning activity and can encourage learners to further study their lessons. At this point
that schools are using blended learning more learners are able to pursue their studies
because they have their choice of delivering their lessons.
C. Emerging new roles of student affairs

With the written report pertinent to the observations you made in the school,
describe thoroughly the new roles and functions the student personnel should do or
perform. You may want to illustrate or do in matrix form the observations you made.

Answer:

The School’s Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)group and focal person is monitoring
and evaluating the status, progress, and results of the delivery of basic education services
in relation to access, quality, and governance to ensure efficient and effective fulfillment
of its mandate and the delivery of education services, to achieve the desired outputs and
sustainability of Education outcomes. In this regard, the M&E group of the school is
superbly performing its duties and responsibilities despite the crisis brought about by the
COVID 19 pandemic. School Year 2022 is quite challenging since there are already face-
to-face classes and the enrollees for this school year have increased by 3.99 % in the
Junior High School. Physical facilities were constructed like Learning Tambayan,
Signages for Junior High School, and Senior High School Buildings, Garden Sets for
Student’s Additional Learning Tambayan, concrete pathways with paved tiles in Junior
and Senior High Schools renovation of bigger school stage, beautification of garden/
parks of different subject areas, washing areas for students, installed 16 units of CCTV
Cameras, and repainting and restructuring of classrooms. These school improvements
was not possible without the efforts and hard work of teachers and personnel of the
school
