Research Question: What are the causes and implications of the Russian revolution in a political,
“When dictatorship is a fact, revolution becomes a right.” -Victor Hugo. Throughout history, revolutions
are an evident type of rebelliousness to go against a system or government. The Russian Revolution is
one of the most explosive and important events in modern history, leaving us with questions about its
causes, and later effects that answer those questions.
To begin with, Russia was an autocratic country ruled by a Tsar for a long period of time before the
Russian Revolution. Under the system of tsarism, Russia was no where near developed or industrialized.
The economic state of the lower class was bad, peasantry was becoming widespread. The social
situation was not good either, Feudalism is an important concept of social hierarchy in the Russian
community that has made the situation even worst. Situations did not get better with Russia joining
WW1, and Czar Nicholas leaving the Russian capital. (History.com Editors) (roberts).
The Revolution started in 1917, the Russian Revolution occurred as February Revolution and then the
Bolshevic Revolution. The February Revolution started with people clamoring to get bread between the
bad situations they lived in, protests started forming mainly from industrial workers. The army failed in
stopping the protests, and Czar Nicholas abdicated, a new provisional government was created, and the
Romanov power was ended. The provisional government was capitalist, the communist leader Vladimir
Lenin decided to go against the government, marking the creation of a soviet government that calls to be
run by the working class. (History.com Editors)
In conclusion, the Russian Revolution is a very impactful event because of the way it has impacted
Russia and the world. It paved a path for a new ideology, new economic policies, social changes in the
community, and most importantly new forms of conflict. It leads to WWII as USSR is one of the
participants in this war, the Soviet Union also brings Joseph Stalin, an important figure in WWII.
