SW 105 SYLLABUS ON FILIPINO PERSONALITY AND SOCIAL WORK

Course Description: Provides students with the knowledge on human behavior and social environment, with particular emphasis on the person-
in environment dynamics, concepts, theories and indigenous perspectives for understanding Filipino behavior and culture in relation to social
work practice.

Course Intended Learning Outcomes :

COGNITIVE

1 Discuss the interplay of human behavior and the environment from a developmental and eco system perspectives.
2 Define human behavior using the various socio behavioral personality theories.
3 Discuss human behaviors as affected by the social environment.
4 Relate indigenous Filipino concepts, values and beliefs in understanding Filipino Personalities.

AFFECTIVE

5 Demonstrate appreciation on the contribution of human behavior and eco systems theories in understanding Filipino personality.
6 Exhibit appreciation on the diversity of Filipino culture and personality as influenced by Filipino core values.
7 Gain self knowledge and awareness by applying human behavior, eco systems theories and Filipino Personality.

8 Chart one’s pathway to self and professional transformation by making a Life Plan via the process of self-discovery and self-mastery.
9 Apply human behavior and personality development concepts and theories in understanding the Filipino personality – its uniqueness,
similarities to other culture and adaptation to changing times
10 Use of specific theories in assessment of actual or hypothetical cases.
