CENTER LINE METHOD OF TAKING
QUANTITIES
• In this method sum – total length of center lines of walls, long and short
has to be found out.

• Find the total length of center lines of walls, of same type, long and
short wall having same type of foundation and footing.

• Then find the quantities by multiplying the total center length by

the respective breadth and the height.

CENTERLINEMETHODOFTAKING QUANTITIES

• In this method the length will remain the same

– Excavation in foundation
– For concrete in foundation
– For all footings
– For superstructure

• Slight differences will occur when there are cross walls or number of
junctions.

• This method is quick but requires special attention and consideration

at the junctions, meeting points of partitions or cross walls

EXAMPLE 2

• The plan of superstructure wall of a single room building of 5m x 4m

and the cross-sections of the walls with foundation are given on the
next slides.
• Estimate the quantities of (using Individual wall method) :
1) Earthwork in excavation in foundation
2) Concrete in foundation
3) Brickwork in foundation and plinth
4) Brickwork in superstructure
