BSED-SOCIAL STUDIES 2
REACTION PAPER

Jean Kilbourne's perspective about how the media and the arts portray women is
that the media and arts had a desirable beauty for women. Media and art set a
standard of beauty for women. Even back in the past there is a standard of beauty
for women, and it kills a lot women. Most women nowadays tend to hide their flaws
just because they want to harmonize the standard that the society has set for the
beauty of women. Beauty products are advertised in all forms of media, and women
who are not confident about their natural beauty are encourage to buy and use
those beauty products just to look good and appealing to others. Some women who
try to use those those beauty products that didn't see the immediate result of the
beauty products they use tend to have low self-esteem. Some women became
depressed just because they didn't get their desirable look, and desire is the root of
severe anxiety. That is why there is a lot of women tend to kill themselves because
they did not accept their natural looks. Being beautiful is not about how others view
your appearance it is about being real and confident about oneself. When you accept
your flaws you became happier than being jailed on harmonizing the beauty that the
media and arts set's in.
