MARUTI| MARUTI SUZUKI INDIA LIMITED | és © SUZUKI) Procedure No Pace | tof? sehen Standard procedure for Cable _| Version No. Department Termination Version Date | 25.4tay-8 EMU-P Objective The objective af this procedure isto define steps involved in safe connection of Cables to Various Plectrical Panels like Power Control Centers, Motor Control Centers, Main Distribution Boards, Power Distribution Boards, Lighting Distribution Boards at voltage levels up to 433 Volts Applicability : This procedure is applicable to all Project departments executing any kind of Utility Projects, Maintenance departments, contractors engayed in project or maintenance activities. Procedure A) Following Pre-Conditions for Cable Connection must be ensured: 1) Inalleircumstances, cable willbe first connected at Load / Receiving end. In no case this sequence will be roversed, 2) After the cable is laid, it must be numbered with identical numnber at both end. B) Prior to Start of Work of Cable Connect 1). The selected Cable size as per the approved design documents must be followed. 2), Incase of absence of above such document, suitability for cable size w.x., load and capacity of feeder isto bbe checked before connecting any cable to the power souree. 3) Competency level ofthe persons of the contractor must be ascertained and ensured at required fevel, 4) All required tools are to be arranged beforehand & must be listed before start of work. The same is to be ‘ensured after completion work. 5) Allrequired consumable like, appropriate size of glands, thimbles, insulation tapes must be arranged before taking shutdown, ©) Work Permit/ Shutdown Permit for: Cable Connection :- 1) A written work permit / Shutdown permit must be obtained from the Maintenance department in case of ‘existing Shops! Sub-stations. 2). In case of new construction sites where Power to The Shop/Building is already charged, the written work permit / shutdown permit is to be obtained from the MSIL Project In-charge 3) Inall cases the work permit is to be signed off by the Permitting person and requiring person. In case of new construction the Permitting person is MSIL Project In-charge & requiring person is Engineer In-charge of the Contractor. 4) Work permit will have two copies, one copy of which must be displayed on the panel in which connection of cable is intended. 1D) Shuidown taking procedu 1). The required Feeder willbe switched off by the MSIL Maintenance department or MSIL Site Project In- charge. 2) LOTO of appropriate size is to be put on the feeder and MSIL Site project In-charge will ensure the ‘effectiveness of the LOTO system. If more than two persons are intent to work at two different locations on the same system, equal number of locks isto be used 3) After the feeder is switched off & LOTO is applied, Cable alley or back doors will be opened and ensure that the feeder in which cable are required to be connected are dead. The same can be checked with Multi ‘meters, Line testers or test amps. Itis also required to check tho other feeders in the vicinity of the feeder under shutdown, In case of isolation or partition is available it may be safe to start the work. Ifthe isolations are not available, other feeders may also be required to be switched off which must be done by MSIL. maintenance department or MSIL project In-charge in consultation with users. Once the MSIL Project In-Charge is staf! withthe safety aspects, he may give go ahead forthe 5 9° H) SUZUKI termination work to be carried out efore srt of work, workmen along with his supervisor will ensure the followin 1} The workmen along with his supervisor will make themselves satisfied forthe absence of any hazardous voltage with the help of Multi-meters, Line tester or Test lamps. 2). They will ensure the absence of any hazardous voltages near to the feeder where cable isto be terminated including all probable reach of the workmen during the execution of termination work. 3) The workmen along with their supervisor are not supposed to bring any additional tools during the process. Fits required so, they must inform to their Engineer In charge && the list must be updated. All the tools in the list must be re-counted after completion work. Cable Testing procedures:- 1). The eable must be checked for any physical damages which may have occurred during cable laying process or termination work process. 2) After the completion of glanding work at both end, the cable must be tested in the presence of MSIL Project In-charge for Insulation Resistance Test (IR) with the help of appropriate rating of equipment (megger). All the values must he recorded in “Electrical termination & Charging check sheets” & must be signed by both MSIL Project In-charge & Contractor's Engineer In charge. A judgment on healthiness ofthe system will bbe judged by MSIL Project In-charge based on IR values, age of the cable and environmental factors of the cable, 3). Ifthe Cable is of length more than $00 meters, and are buried under ground or laid through sleeves, 2 High= Pot test may also be carried out to ensure healthiness of cable. 4) While connecting the eable to feoder terminals, it must be ensured to connect the load end first and then only source end must be connected. 5). For eable tightening, suitable size of Cadmium coated MS bolts must be used along with suitable spring & plain washers, 6) Once cables are tightened on the feeder termi ls, all the ive parts must be shrouded with acrylie sheet, Settings of the Feeder Breaker:- 1) Al settings including but not limited to Over Current, Short circuit & earth fault are to be adjusted as per the requirement of the Load by MSIL. Project in-charge. It should not be left as per factory settings. ‘Switching ON the Power == 1) AILLOTO engaged must be removed by the persons after completion of work by respective users. The Men at Board must also be removed. 2). The Feeder must be marked appropriately and also at Load end the Power source must be marked. 3) Once the Project Incharge is satisfied with the test reports, the same may be energized. 4) During energization, the breaker must be switched ON and OFF once and check for any abnormality. Once it is ensured thatthe entire system is OK and healthy, then only breaker must be charged permanently. 5) The Engineer In charge must check voltage at the Load end where this cable is intended to supply power and ensure proper voltage is available in the range of 433V£6% (in case of 3 phase supply).
