General tips for speaking:


- NOTE TAKING For task 1 (some information about your destination) and for task 3 (the
most important arguments for your position).
- If you do not understand a question or an argument of your interlocutor, just ask.
- If you notice mistakes, simply correct yourself or start the sentence over again.
- Even if you get stuck in the middle of a sentence, just say that you have lost the thread and
want to start over.
- Don't start every sentence the same way, but try to use as wide a range of vocabulary and
idioms as possible.
- Speak clearly and loudly.
- Even if you are nervous, try to appear as confident as possible.
- Proper breathing can help a lot.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

1. Communication goal, communicative appropriateness /text type adequacy

● Can express him/herself clearly using a sufficiently wide range of language on a
variety of general topics or in his/her field of expertise, although incorrect
word choice or confusion may occur but does not impede communication.

● Can easily restart when difficulties arise during speaking and usually
self-corrects identified errors.

● Can vary phrasing to avoid frequent repetition in his/her remarks or to clarify


statements.

● Can actively participate in informal discussions in familiar situations, taking


positions and express own points of view.

3. Verständlichkeit, Aussprache und Intonation, Flüssigkeit (0-7)


● Can speak clearly and understandably and use intonation correctly, even if
he/she sometimes makes pauses (to search for words or structures) and a
foreign accent is audible.
● Can communicate so spontaneously and fluently that a normal conversation
with German speakers is quite possible without much effort on either side.

4. Formale Richtigkeit
● Can use a wide range of grammatical structures correctly, with occasional
errors or deficiencies in sentence structure that he/she can usually correct
him/herself.
● Can express him/herself grammatically correctly in such a way that rarely any
(comprehension-disturbing) errors occur.
