ENTR 1100 – Assignment 4 Overview

RESPOND TO PART 1: PERSONAL MISSION & CAREER GOAL
THE Include your personal mission (this can be copied from A2; incorporate any
FOLLOWING feedback that Chris provided) and your general career goal (from your
QUESTIONS Entrepreneurial Development Plan-make sure is SMART).

PART 2: ACADEMIC JOURNEY

Build a table/calendar with the courses you likely need to take each
semester until you graduate from KPU. Go through the KPU calendar to
assess course requirements/descriptions, etc. Be sure to include options
like an international exchange, field schools, co-op, etc., if relevant.

If planning to transfer to another school, then explore their calendar.

If you are near graduation, identify if there are post-graduate programs

(Bachelor’s, Master, Certificates, etc.) you may wish to pursue.

Tip: Use the My Action Plan (MAP) tool within OSS to help you identify
your requirements to graduate!

PART 3: PAID EXPERIENCE JOURNEY

What type(s) of paid work experience will help you achieve your mission
and career goal?

Identify some specific job opportunities (e.g., specific employers and job
advertisements that you can consider using as inspiration – the actual job
descriptions can be included as an appendix). Consider short-term
opportunities (while going to school) and longer-term opportunities (post-
graduation). You might wish to visit the job postings sites like
https://www.kpu.ca/careerconnection or https://ca.indeed.com/

If you are certain you do not wish to work for anyone else (become a true
entrepreneur immediately), identify how you feel you already have the
work experience, perspective, and resources to start your venture.

PART 4: EXTRA-CURRICULAR JOURNEY

What non-paid opportunities can you take advantage of to work faster
towards your mission/career goal(s)? You may wish to visit sites like
https://kpu-csm.symplicity.com/ or https://www.volunteerconnector.org

For example, are there specific organizations you can volunteer with and
student/community clubs to develop your skills/abilities? How about travel
or living on your own?

Describe the skills/experience you are looking to gain through each

opportunity. Be specific. Simply stating, “I will volunteer with ABC,” will
not suffice; find a specific opportunity at the organization and indicate why
it’s a good fit for your own development/goals.
