PREFACE

Nothing is more powerful for your future than being a gatherer of good ideas and
information. That’s called doing your homework. – Jim Rohn
Dear Scholar
Summer break is a planned break in the academic calendar that gives you time to
rejuvenate, educate self, de-stress, relax, improve physical health, acquire a new hobby,
visit interesting and fun workshops, learn new skills besides reinforcement as it helps
you to retain better and recall concepts by providing opportunities for repetition and
practice thus honing your learning skill. Reinforcement is an integral part of learning, it
supports you in developing independent learning, critical thinking, time management,
self-reflection that you need to improve and develop a growth mind-set for academic
success beyond books. It benefits you to prepare for upcoming tests and assignments.
Also out-of-class activity/assignment allotted to you are as an extension or
revision of classwork, permitting you to explore subjects and develop essential
life skills wherein you find a solution to every problem and thus enhance your
problem-solving skill.
This year’s Vacation Enrichment Reinforcement (VER) is based on 8C’s of 21st century
skills. These are critical thinking and problem solving; creativity and innovation; cross–
cultural understanding; collaboration, teamwork and Leadership; communications,
information and media literacy; computing and ICT literacy; career and learning skills
and compassion. Vacation Enrichment Reinforcement (VER) has been planned to aid
you to work on your own terms, drive you to get things done with the approaching
deadline and at the same time retain the important information you may otherwise
forget due to break from school.

A Few Pointers…….
 Vacation Enrichment Reinforcement (VER) will help you combat academic
regression.
 Also note that independent, creative and original ideas of the work will be highly
appreciated. Projects/Assignments must be submitted as per the instructions
mentioned with the assigned tasks.
 VER is a part of SEA (Subject Enrichment Activity) so its submission is
mandatory.
 Work to be submitted to the respective Subject Teacher latest by 5th July 2023.
So adherence to the given timeline is important.
 As PAs will be conducted after the school re-opens, so prepare yourself
thoroughly.
 Ensure to keep a balance between leisure and academics.
Besides enjoying your holidays by spending quality time with your family and friends,
hone/ develop a skill, eat healthy food, drink lots of water, exercise daily, take a good
night sleep, keep good health and stay safe.
Ignite the spark of your imagination to spend time qualitatively and purposely.

DESCRIPTION ABOUT PROJECT:

LDR
1. To study the variations in current flowing in a circuit containing an LDR because of a
variation in
(a) the power of the incandescent lamp, used to 'illuminate' the LDR (keeping all the
lamps at a fixed distance).
OR
(b) the distance of a incandescent lamp (of fixed power) used to 'illuminate' the LDR.
Refractive indices
2. To find the refractive indices of (a) water (b) Acetic acid using a plane mirror, an
equiconvex lens or convex lens (made from a glass of known refractive index) and an
adjustable object needle
(Apparatus to be provided by school LAB)
Transformer
3. To investigate the relation between the ratio of
(i) output and input voltage and
(ii) number of turns in the secondary coil and primary coil of a self-designed
transformer.
Angle of deviation using hollow prism
4. To investigate the dependence of the angle of deviation on the angle of incidence
using a hollow prism filled one by one, with different transparent fluids.
(Hollow prism to be bought by student , fluid to be provided by lab,(water and acetic
acid))
Self-Inductance Coil
5. To study the factor on which the self-inductance of a coil depends by observing the
effect of this coil, when put in series with a resistor/(bulb) in a circuit fed up by an A.C.
source of adjustable frequency.
