Industrial Extractions
Mining: Silver is found in nature as compounds like silver sulfide or silver chloride. Mining
methods vary, including open-pit and underground mining, depending on the deposit
location and nature.

Smelting: In the smelting process, silver-rich ore concentrate is heated with flux in a furnace.
Silver combines with flux to form slag, separating from impurities which become waste slag.

Silver Refining: By heating silver-rich slag with oxygen to drive out impurities and leave pure
silver, processes like cupellation are used to purify the silver. Another technique is electrolytic
refining, which deposits pure silver on cathodes using an electrolyte bath.

Leaching(for Low grade Ores): Low-grade silver ores are treated with chemicals like cyanide
to dissolve silver, which is then recovered from the resulting solution.

Melting and Casting: Pure silver obtained by refining is melted and cast into bars, granules, or
a variety of items such as coins, jewelry, and silverware for use in industry and commerce.
