Personal Profile
Born and raised in London during the 70’s, you could argue Phil was born into the wire & cable industry because
of his father, who was owner of “General Cable Industries” in the early 90’s. Phil spent many of his school holiday’s
working on the factory floor trying to earn some pocket money and learning how to manufacture cable.
His 12-month internship at Rockbestos Surprenant (Berkshire Hathaway Company) in
the late 90’s became a useful and worthwhile experience in understanding the overall
concept of running a cable company. Deciding not to extend his stay in the US, he
returned to the UK where he held internal and external sales positions at GCI until
launching his career on the international scene.
He has held various international managerial and director positions at some of the
largest wire & cable manufacturers and distribution companies worldwide such as
Oman Cables (part of the Prysmian Group) and more recently Southwire, North
America’s largest wire & cable manufacturer as well as several years experience in the
cable accessories market.
With a 22-year successful track record under his belt within the sales environment he has learnt how to promote
and establish various brands through various channels across the UK, EMEA, MENA and APAC regions as well as
parts of North & South America. Key expertise include: collaborating with leadership at a corporate level whilst
having the ability to switch gears effectively and engaging with SME's; leading sales teams across business
development; account management & post-sale delivery; understanding complex client requirements &
leveraging internal resources to develop bespoke solutions; developing sales strategies & processes to drive
customer acquisition; taking new & existing products to market by selling / negotiating contracts at the highest
level whilst delivering customer satisfaction.

Using all his knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm to launch his latest venture Thompson Global
Wire Solutions. Phil has created a versatile company performing in 2 roles as a manufacturer’s
representative / specialist cable & cable accessories supplier. Its goal is to serve in niche markets
requiring wire and cable and cable management products from all over the globe within the
electrical and electronic space.
As a global supplier focused on selling high quality BS, IEC, VDE, AS/NZS, UL and CSA wire & cable and
cable management products to distributors, end users, contractors and OEMs in the Utility, Industrial,
OEM and Construction sectors.
Its aim is to become a premier importer of specialty products by being the best in class in delivering
an effective and efficient service. Whether it be just identifying and supplying competitive products,
addressing packaging and logistical requirements or simply delivering on time.
