Argument and evidence

 Do you understand the question?

 Do you have a plan?
 Do you follow your plan?
 Are your arguments well-balanced?
 Do you support your points with examples or other evidence?
 Have you attempted to comment on or analyse your work?
 Have you avoided simple description?

Research

 Have you referenced your work and your images/maps/ graphs appropriately?
 Have you used a range of sources and the required number of sources?
 Have you included citations for all the work you have quoted or paraphrased?
 Have you included all your sources in your reference list/bibliography?

Grammar, vocabulary and writing style

 Have you used the formal writing style you have been taught?
 Have you been cautious with your language?
 Have you used a wide range of vocabulary?
 Have you checked your grammar and spelling?

Organisation

 Have you made a plan?

 Have you organised/Are you organising your time well?
 Introduction: general statement and thesis statement
 Paragraphs: does each paragraph have a clear topic sentence?
 Have you linked your ideas with appropriate linking words?
 Have you paragraphed your work appropriately?
 Have you included a suitable introductory and concluding paragraph for the
sections ?

Formatting

 Have you followed all the presentation conventions?

 Have you kept to the word limit?
