    Mineral oils are used for cylinder lubrication in normal and low sulfur fuel operation for slow speed crosshead engines and system lubrication in heavy fuel, diesel and gas oil operation for trunk piston engines and system lubrication for high speed diesel engines. They are also used for ancillary equipment like air compressors, refrigerant compressors, hydraulic systems, gear boxes, turbines, stern tubes and greasing systems for wire ropes, chains, open gear systems exposed to weather and high temperature and pressure applications. Synthetic lubricants are used for air compressors, refrigeration compressors, turbochargers, gas compressors and centrifugal gearboxes.
