True love, they say, is sacrificial.

It is in giving, not in getting; in losing, not in gaining; in realizing, not in

possessing, that we love. King George, the great King of the united kingdom of great Britain and
northern Ireland had ruled the kingdom with power, authority and influence for more than a decade. He
is the man of the people, although he was not directly chosen by the people because he ruled in a
monarchial state he was loved and valued by all of his people. He was a youth full of youthful energy
when he was crowned king but he was not lacking in wisdom and power. The more he grew in age the
more he grew in wisdom massively.

Since he was crowned, every part of his kingdom including the provinces under them flourished and
built great relationship with neighbouring countries which helps to foster good intercountry relationship
between them. King George is married to a beautiful woman who is known as Queen Mary and their
marriage is blessed with two children named Edward and Albert. Edward is the eldest and the pride of
the throne and the country, the whole country refers to him as the prince and he is also trusted by his
father to be in charge of a number of provinces so as to school him in the act of governance.

On a particularly warm afternoon, the trees surrounding the palace swayed gently as if trying
to lean in and listen to the conversation the King and Queen held within the majestic walls of the
palace. The King and the Queen sat discussing and delebrating on the fate of their children and the
kingdom.

"I count myself as one of the luckiest king that has ever ruled this great country, my Queen"
the King said.

"Indeed, the legacy of this kingdom has been kept from being soiled and I cannot be less proud
to see my son doing well as he'll grow to even rule this land better than I do" he added.

"My King", responded the Queen, "the joy of every mother is to see the success of her children
while she lives and this is what God has granted me

The name and legacy of our generations will not die. Edward is under great mentorship and I
know for sure that Stanley will continue to keep an eye over him" She added.

The whole of Edward's life has been tired around the throne since his birth, he was consciously
taught to live and act like the future king and he grew up to love this lifestyle. Edward was home
schooled by the best royal tutors as a child; he was not just trained to read and write but to bear the
burdens of the whole county and to ooze the aura of royalty. He grew rapidly and at age 14, Edward
was not your typical teenage boy, He was physically fit, attractive and stong-willed and in order to
prepare him for the throne, he was made ruler over few provinces. He was loved and admired by
everyone, His fame was spread across the kingdom. The young prince was known for his luxurious
taste, impeccable fashion sense and hospitality which made him even more loved by the people.
Nothing stopped him from living the life he wanted; he easily makes friends due to his outgoing
personality and was seen often touring the united Kingdom and its neighbouring countries and he
also serves in the army. The young future king is growing, the whole nation is expectant and his great
father is over joyed to be blessed with such a zealous and charming a son.

"I believe that the throne should be closer to the people and royalty should not be the reason
why one will abadon one's dream and desire" he had often said to his friends and subjects.

It is however said that there is no entirely perfect individual and yes, Edward was far from one no
matter how hard his parents tried to make him into the perfect son. His sexual desires and taste of
women was a disaster to the throne and the whole England. The future King engages in and enjoys
sexual affairs with married women. He has an eye for elegant women who are young, beautiful and
hardworking but married or were once married in their life. This aspect of his life is not hidden from the
Palace and the people who are observant enough to know and this displeases the King. Having tried all
he could to make him of a noble act he finally invited him for a one on one talk over meal.

"Edward", King George said, "you are fast grown up into a young man that the Palace and the
country is proud of, I'm not in doubt that the whole kingdom is safe with you after my death. You've
proven to be up to task and this gives me rest and joy."

"However", he continued, the crown is a model to the whole England. They look at us, learn from
us, desire to model our life and live by our rules. They hold us in high esteem and we are to be of the
noblest of act before them. I have allowed you to choose a woman of your own will and heart because
I'm training you to be man enough for yourself and home". "The tradition of our land forbids royalty
engaging with sexual relationships with whores and married women, news has it that you are always
engaged with these women which bothers my heart"

Please, Edward, get one of the beautiful ladies from our royal lineage to be your queen and you
both will rule and reign this nations to the pleasure of the people. I want our lineage to be noted for the
best even in my grave. Get married to a royal woman who will give us royal babies to preserve our
heritage." He concluded.

The meeting only succeeded in changing Edward's taste of women for a few years but it never
doused his desires. The activities of the palace and the King continue to go on smoothly as years pass by.

Some where around Maryland in America, a young man and woman are seated in a well furnished
room with another older couple discussing. The younger woman is Wallis, the ex wife of Earl Winfield
Spencer Jr, a U.S Naval personnel whom she wedded at age 20. Their union was dissolved two years
earlier on the basis of misunderstandings; at their marriage, the couples were the talk of the town
amongs the Americans, nontheless the marriage lasted only for 11 years. Seated beside her in the
sittingroom of her parents mansion is her new fiance, also an American whom she has met at a friend's
few months earlier. The new fiance, Mr Simpson had lost his wife and serves as an Captain in the British
army; he had lost his wife to a brief but deathly illness about a year ago. With no issue in the marrige,
he finally decided to put an end to his mourning by getting another bride and the presence of Wallis in
his life has given him another opportunity to give love a trial. And eventually, after many
contemplations, here is he trying to tie the knot of love with his beloved.

"You both are not children and I'm pretty sure you know what you want." Mrs Warfield broke the
silence. She continued "Wallis, you have the blessings of myself and your father. We want you to be
happy in life and this is the reason we have placed so much interest on this second marriage because it
is a must that it works".

"Mr Simpson, take my baby girl as your only responsiblity and life, I wish you both bliss in your love
adventure." She concluded.

"Wallis darling, this new ball is in your court emsure to play it well. You can go on with the wedding
ceremony." Mr Warfield added.

The wedding of both couple took place at the Register Office in London and was not as loud as their
previous wedding, although Wallis love being extravagant they both agreed to keep their relationship
from the eyes of the public. The Simpsons relocated to West Side of London and ejoyed their the bliss of
their marriage. Wallis continues with her business while her husband is away with the Army.

Indeed, how time flies! The Simpsons are close to celebrating their first marriage anniversary.

"Simpson dear, I want us to celebrate our wedding anniversary in a grand style."

"Here, baby" she says as she moves closer to her husband who was absentmindedly listening to her.
"Let's make the event like a family get together where we'll invite few friends and then they'll share in
our joy, it's very beautiful when we build memories with others. Or what do you think, my love?" She
asked.

"You have spoken well, darling. You can ahead with the planning" he replied taciturnly in order to
get his wife's stress off his mind.

Planning an event all alone was not easy but Wallis pulled through with support from a few friends and
she was able to pull things together. She has sent invites to important friends and collegues who are
free to come with a friend or two.

The big day of the anniversary finally came, there is glamour and color in the room that is being used.
Some guest are already seated enjoying and swaying to the music while some others are coming in in
pairs. Another of Wallis' close friend walked in with a young man and her host was surprised to see her.
They embraced each other and started to chat, she regained herself after five minutes of laughing and
exchanging pleasantries to notice another person standing with her friend.
"Oh my God! I'm sorry young sir, I was mesmerized by my Thaw's beauty and gandeour that I totally
forgot you". She apologized to the male guest displaying that American humor she took with her
everywhere that could make a rude statement seem like a playful remark.

" Forgive my manners, Wallis. This is Edward, the prince of Wales and ( she whispers and laughed)
the heir to the English throne." Thaw said.

"Oh my! It's an honor to have grace my party. You are welcome, my Prince." Wallis said to the Prince
as she curtsied to him.

"It's a pleasure to be here, ma'am. It's fine if you address me as Edward. By the way, you look very
beautiful, Mrs Wallis." Edward finally spoke up.

"I accept that as a compliment, My Prince, oh my bad! Edward. Please take a seat and make yourself
comfortable."

The rest of the day went on with conversations, dancing and partying. The guests presented their
gifts to the couples and danced with them and it was finally time to call it a night at the Simpsons
anniversary get-together party. Each guest gave the couple a farewell hug and kiss as they moved out of
the hall. Thaw and Edward were the last to leave the hall as they waited to see Wallis, they met and
greeted. The Prince was pleased with the woman's kind gesture and she introduced him to her husband
and the couple exchanged contact with the Prince and gave him access to their home and family
anytime, anytime.

Back in Britain, Edward is apointed head over Wales, a state in Britain. This has made him more
engaged with works and state activities. Of course, as a responsible and admirable young man, he still
keeps up with his social activities, extravagant and breathtaking dress sense. Edward became the centre
of attraction for every influential lady and although the crown is not for every woman some manages to
think that the prince will choose to stay around them or even keep their sexual relationship at arms
length and ofcourse, the Prince keeps few of them as his friend that he hangs out with while a number
of married lady keep their sexual relationship with him secret. Of course the prince's lasciviousness was
supposed to be a royal secret, the women he engaged with knew that a secret concerning the throne
and the royals is a top one, hence it is had to be kept diligently, to them it is a privilege to know a
royal secret in the first place therefore they cover Edward's lascivious behaviors.

The dinner at The Simpsons has left young Edward thinking about the family and their union. He's
known for being attracted to married and divorced ladies but what he feels for this woman is far beyond
infactuations maybe it is not yet to the point where he could call it love but he has not been able to
take his heart off the beautiful woman. During one of his official duties to America, he called at the
Simpson's home in Maryland and was received with joy.
"Hello, Mr Simpson! It's a pleasure to be here again, I came into town for some royal business and I
decided to come check on you both. How's your life with you and your wife?" The Prince asked as he
grabbed a chair.

Mr Simpson was overjoyed to have received the Crown Prince and of course he answered "your
highness, this is a grear honor on me, I couldn't have expected you to be in our home again. My wife is
in the living room, permit me to call her to help receive you". He excused himself as he goes into the
living room to call his wife to receive their guest. Wallis Simpson was also surprise to see the Prince but
she was also happy to have him in her home. The trio spent the evening winning and discussing different
subject at the table. Edward and Wallis seemed to get along so well in their discussion that one would
mistake them for good old friend; this warmed the heart of the prince and encouraged him to pay
subsequent visit to the Simpson's, the family became his good friends. To celebrate the end of the year,
the Simpons decided to go on vacation and they invited the Prince to join them to enjoy the serenity of
London. This was intially Simpson's idea in order to bond with their new friend and according to him "to
be able to foster more healthy relationship between the King and his family. For Edward, the few days
vacation with the family was a great time to enjoy friendship and communion with his new friend,
Wallis. Both Wallis and Edward became good friends and Simpson had no issue or wrong feeling with it.
He trusted his wife and the Prince therefore the thought of any illicit relationship between them never
came to his heart and sincerely speaking, Simpson never had a reason to doubt his wife. The Simpson
and the prince became fond of one another and Mr Simpson permits his wife to check on the Prince in
the royal home anytime she visits Britain. However, it was not too long that the closeness of Wallis and
Edward became a concern to the neighbours and friends of the family; many saw the relationship as a
lying dog which will soon bite but it never bothered Wallis. Rumour they say flies faster that jet, King
George soon found out about this son's friendship with a married woman. To him, it was not the case of
being carefree enough to choose a friend that will make the people suspicious of the palace but that of
trying to make the husband of the woman feel cheated by the Prince if the news about their sexual
relationship is confirmed.

Perhaps this news and other factors brought the odd days to the marriage of the Simpsons. Wallis
and her husband started to disagree over little things; heated arguments and days of malice went on
between the couples. Simpson reported his wife to the Prince in order to keep his wife sane again
because wanted the marriage to work. Wallis' attitude towards her husband showed that she was no
longer interested in the marriage. Nonetheless, there was peace in the home for a liitle while after
Edward interfered in the matter. As year goes by, the bond between Edward and his married friend grew
and spent more time together.

Back in Britain, King George is full of years and he's on the sick bed being attended to by the Queen
and the royal physicians. He had requested the presence of Edward the previous day therefore, the
Prince was summoned from Wales and he's finally standing beside his sick father with a sorrowful face.
His father held his hands and spoke softly
"Edward, age and time is no longer on side. If I don't recover from this sickness, I hope our country
will be proud to have you as their King." He continued "you are my source of strength and power, I have
invested all it takes to ensure that you rule and manage Britain well however, you leave me with many
worries and contemplations about how safe this crown will be with you as you grow.

"My son, concerning your marriage and romantic affair, what do you have with the married woman
from America? Would you not be bold enough to confide in me if there is anything that I need to
know?" King George asked.

"My father, the royal King of Britain I hail thee. Find a place in your heart to believe me when I say I
do not have any hidden relationship with the woman. My friendship with her is as clear as crystal, My
King, you should believe my words more than you believe distant news." Edward answered sternly.

Everyone's attention was on the King till the end of the day, Physicians were up and down the palace
with one herb or the other and like one who is preparing for a voyage, he puts his house in order. As
soon as he showed a little bit of fitness he discharged him Edward because of the royal assignment he
had at Wales. For the rest of the week, he invited several subjects of his to the palace. Right there on
his sick bed, he signed several documents and made Prime Minister Stanley the overseer of his house
and counsellor of Edward as he grows. "I'm afraid that this boy will get himself into trouble as soon as I
pass on. Stanley, endeavour to take care of him and my queen." The King muttered this few words as he
gave up the ghost.

The death of the King was a rude shock to Edward, although he knew that the he was born to bear
the responsibilities of the whole Britain, he never expected it this soon. He grieved the loss of his father
for a number day; he asked to be left alone to mourn his loss however he enjoys the company of Wallis
during this period. With much sincerity, Edward knew that their relationship has gone pass mere
friendship because the only thing remaining for the both of them is to consummate the relationship. He
could no longer hide how he feels for Wallis who he knows feels the same way for him infact more
intensely; he is aware of the fact that The Simpson's marriage is far from blissfulness and unity and
Wallis has mentioned it to him many times that she'd put an end to the marriage because she no longer
finds happiness in it therefore Edward had to put a bridge between him and her husband.

The mourning burial of the King ended the month after the King's death. Edward was officialy crown
the 20th King of England, his coronation ceremony lasted for days as he was greatly loved by his
people. The new king called Wallis soon after to let her know the news. In the few months of his reign,
King Edward's ability and moves have given people the assurance of being under the rulership of a
capable King and they sang his praises all around Britain. There is no much honor for a King without a
Queen, it is therefore expedient that the King chooses a wife and Prime Minister Stanly advised him to
choose of the noble families in Britain as only an indigene of England is allowed to rule as the Queen of
England.

Soon after words of Wallis's divorce spread, Prime Minister Stanley warned King Edward of the
consequences of their relationship and urged him to prevent the divorce from happening. The King
consequently refused, and soon rumors began to spread that the king and Wallis' relationship caused
her divorce. Wallis maintained her stand that she dissolved the marriage because of Simpson's
unfaithfulness to the marriage however people speculated that her relationship with the King led to the
divorce.

In the third month of his reign as the King of England, King Edward invited the Prime Minister to the
palace and admitted that he planned to marry Wallis and was prepared to abdicate the throne because
not only is an American not accepted as queen but also, a divorcée is not allowed as queen which Wallis
was both an American and a divorcée. He later told his mother, Queen Mary, and the Princess Royal his
sister Mary, hoping to get their support despite the hurdles against their matrimony. The Queen
insisted he give up Wallis, but Edward said he would not properly serve as king without Wallis by his
side. King Edward's mind could not be changed inspite of the consequences of marrying his dream
woman. He went on to propose to Wallis in the heat of the matter. He said to her on the night of the
proposal in the palace "if giving up my throne and honor is the price for spending the rest of my days
with you then it is little compared to how precious you are to me. With you with crown is an honor and
everywhere is the throne but without you it is a mere charade; today is my happiness full."

On December 10 of the same year, he signed the Instrument of Abdication to the surprise of everyone
and signed his marriage document at the country's registery. His brother Albert who further dissuaded
him from his desires because of the consequence it will have on the peace of the country was named
king—he became King George VI. He honored his brother Edward with the title of HRH Duke of Windsor.
Wallis automatically became the Duchess of Windsor.

After a few years of being the source of the England daily news, the people forgot about them as they
enjoy their new life in their 14 room mansion in the Parisian park. The couple toured different part of
the world, despite the circumstances surrounding their marriage, they soon became again the
admiration of the people. Edward and Wallis lived together happily in England till they both passed on
even though they never had children the fire of their love never went off.
