1901. The first peanut butter and jelly sandwich recipe appeared in the Boston Cooking
School Magazine of Culinary Science and Domestic Economics written by Julia Davis
Chandler. Although a peanut butter and jelly sandwich might not sound all that fancy,
there are many different ways in which you can alter to make the sandwich your very
own masterpiece.
There are many different ways that you can make a peanut butter and jelly
sandwich, but in this “how to” tutorial, we will be looking at how to make a standard
peanut butter and jelly sandwich on two pieces of bread. The first step to making a
peanut butter and jelly sandwich is to gather your ingredients. The ingredients you will
need are peanut butter (Crunchy or smooth), jelly (Flavor of choice), two slices of bread
(white or wheat), a plate to eat the sandwich on, and a butter knife. Once you have all of
your ingredients it is time to take two slices of bread out of the bag, and lay them side
by side on the plate. Next you are going to open up the peanut butter and jelly, twist off
each of the lids and remove any seals in order to use the product. Next you are going to
take your butter knife and submerge the end into the jar of peanut butter, then you are
going to evenly spread the peanut butter (1-2tbs) onto one slice of the bread. Next you
are going to take your butter knife (Optional; new butter knife or clean one) and
submerge the end of the knife into the jelly jar, you then will evenly spread the jelly
(1-2tbs) onto the other piece of bread. Now that you have two pieces of bread, one with
peanut butter and the other with jelly you will now combine the two pieces of bread, jelly
and peanut butter sides facing in quickly to avoid a mess! Now that you have your
sandwich, it is time to cut it in half to make it easier to eat. You can either cut it on a
diagonal or in half down the middle. Now that your sandwich is complete it is time to
clean up your workspace. Close the peanut butter and jelly jars, tie up the bread, and
wash your knife. The final step to making a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich is to enjoy
it!
