Peanut Butter & Jelly: A How-To Guide

We’ve all been there. It’s the middle of the day, you feel ambitious, and you are
in no way allergic to peanuts. Your free time and desire to create are both so
limitless that you can barely contain your culinary aspirations, ultimately
deciding to make a sandwich. But not just any sandwich, no. Perhaps one of
the most widely known and yet impressively humble sandwiches mankind has
ever devised: The Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich. However, while it’s a true
statement that we all may have wanted a PB&J sandwich at one point or
another, it’s not necessarily true that everyone has mastered the fundamentals
of the PB&J sandwich. These instructions will teach you the basics of PB&J
sandwiches, so that anyone from the skilled chef brushing up on their
fundamentals to the beginner looking to expand their skill set can achieve their
wildest culinary dreams.

Supplies
PB&J Sandwiches are ingeniously simple, requiring only the following supplies:

• Peanut Butter – 1 Jar

• Jelly (or Jam) – 1 Jar

• White Bread – 2 Slices

• Plate – 1 Pcs.

• Butter Knife – 2 Pcs.

NOTE: You can get away with just one Butter Knife, provided you clean it between uses.
Step-by-Step Instruction

Step 1: Place two slices of white bread on the plate as shown below.

NOTE: You may optionally toast your bread before completion of this step.

Step 2: Use one of your butter knives to liberally apply peanut butter to
the left slice of bread, spreading the peanut butter evenly for best
results.

NOTE: While the example uses Creamy Peanut Butter, those so inclined are free to use
Chunky Peanut Butter instead.
Step 3: Use your remaining Butter Knife to liberally apply your choice of
jelly or jam to the right slice of bread, spreading the jelly/jam evenly for
best results.

Step 4: With the bread slices arranged as depicted in the left image
below, place your right hand under the slice on the right side and flip the
slice onto the other one. Step completion should appear as the right
image below.

NOTE: If you prefer your Jelly on the bottom rather than the top, flip the
sandwich over after completing Step 4.
Step 5: Use one of your Butter Knives to slice the sandwich in half down
the middle, as depicted below.

Step 6: Bask in the glory of your completed Peanut Butter & Jelly
Sandwich.
Bonus: Beginners looking for a challenge or Seasoned Professionals
looking to show off their skills may consider an additional cut,
perpendicular to the original. Example Below.
