Northwest Church of God Media Guidelines:

If you require media during a service, the following are the guidelines and requirements.
• Media files must be given to the team prior to the day of the service (preferably several
weeks in advance, if possible). Last minute additions cannot be easily made. While last
minute alterations sometimes do come up, it should not be made into a habit as it is
difficult to get everything done in a timely manner directly before service. The media
team has a lot to do before service begins.
• The following file types are accepted:
o Images:
▪ Must be Public Domain or purchased for Commercial Use, not private use.
Include where you purchased/found it and all copyright information.
▪ Size: 1920x1080 and 120-300 ppi (pixels per inch)
▪ Formats: .jpeg or .png
o Audio Files:
▪ Must be Public Domain or purchased for Commercial Use, not private use.
Include where you purchased/found it and all copyright information.
▪ Format: MP3
o Video Files:
▪ Must be Public Domain or purchased for Commercial Use, not private use.
Include where you purchased/found it and all copyright information.
▪ Format: MP4
Please schedule your practices with other ministry teams so that the sanctuary is ready for
service 30 minutes prior to service starting. This is a request from Pastor John. Please respect
that before a service we have people coming in, often visitors, and we need to present the
church in the best light possible, including being prepared beforehand for the upcoming
service.
All ministry team members are required to be in the corporate prayer prior to service. We
meet either in Pastor John’s office or in the Conference Room. (Few exceptions are made –
only for those who are required to be doing another job during prayer time.)
FAQ:
Q: Can I use a video from YouTube?
A: No. There are several reasons:
1. YouTube’s TOS (Terms of Service) states that it is intended for “personal, non-
commercial use.” The church is a public entity, and thus does not fit this “non-
commercial” term. Even if it is not a ticketed (paid for) performance, the church is
still a public place, and thus it is considered commercial use.
2. Any person can upload a video. While it states in their TOS that the person should
have the rights to do so, many do not follow this directive. All copyrights must be
obtained from the entity who owns the legal rights. If the person who uploaded
the video does have the legal rights, then perhaps you can contact them to get
permission to use their media and have them send you the proper file. (As stated
above, it cannot be downloaded from YouTube, even if they give you permission
to do so.)
3. The video and audio quality of a video downloaded from YouTube is often not
good enough to be viewed properly during a service.
4. Videos cannot be played live from the website during a service because of the
aforementioned TOS, as well as because of the advertisements that randomly pop
up during the playing of a video.
Q: Why can’t we just get you the file the day of before church begins?
A: Much more goes into the planning of a service than just popping a file into the
computer. All files must be received beforehand (preferably at least a week ahead of
time) so that the team has time to size it properly, and do any video and audio checks
and adjustments. If you have requirements for your presentation, such as having it only
on the back screen or displaying your ministry logo, please let the team know so we can
accommodate appropriately.
Q: Can I use a .gif file?
A: No. However, we do have the ability to make a slide that is animated to a certain
degree, if given enough time to do so. Please give us at least a week when requesting
this service, as animated slides (or slide shows) sometimes take several hours to put
together. The earlier the better for our volunteers, who freely give up their time for this
ministry.
