Exhibition of works of the San José de Carene (Harakbut)

community
WHY DOES THIS PRESENTATION OF ART AND WORKS EXIST?
We understand that this presentation is made to inform ICPNA students about the
Harakbut community, so as not to lose indigenous identity. At the same time so that we
feel proud of this identity.
BAGS OF BARK:
For fiber bags from the river banks, they collect the bark and dry it, then form
it into threads, and finally tangle those threads. In the Harakbut community,
these bags were used for collecting jungle products. It is the oldest product of
the Harakbut community.

PAINTED TABLECLOTHS:
To make these tablecloths we take tree bark and boil it so that
it becomes thread, then combine it with other raw materials from our
jungle. Once the tablecloth is made, they proceed to paint it with achote,
which is mixed with others to dye it different colors.
EXTRA: Recommend to wash this tablecloth one a month
MOSTACILLA JEWELRY:
They are made of thread and beads, which, although they are not
products of the region, are handmade by the women of the community.
This jewelry presented are inspired by Heliconias, hereunder flowers
from the jungle that represent indigenous women, since this product is
used by women in the community to look pretty.
